Picture quality is exactly the same. The difference between the two screens is just the reflectivity of the glass.

You can even change this after the fact with a screen protector. Put a glossy screen protector on the anti-glare screen, or put an anti-glare screen protector on a glossy screen.

anti-glare has a disgusting matt screen which dulls colors but deals with reflections better. it's mostly aimed at the brainboxes who think playing videogames outdoors under bright sunlight is a good idea.

the glossy screen has more vibrant colors but is bad in regards to reflections. doesn't bother me indoors or at the airport or during flight etc but it's not a good idea to play with it at the beach.

lol no. anti-glare is matt. you can't magically make the colors pop by adding a glossy screen protector unless you sand the screen.

however you can ruin a perfectly fine glossy screen by adding a matt screen protector.

It isn't a matte screen. It is an etched texture in the glass, which has no noticeable difference in colors or quality. You would not be able to tell the difference with them side by side, unless you are sitting in direct sunlight or other lightsource, in which the anti glare will have a more dispersed light 'blob'.

I guess I'll go with the glossy 512gb one for more OLED clarity.

There is no difference in clarity. The antiglare is an etching, not a matte screen. Only difference is the glare, which is literally what it is called.

I see.

Do you think 512gb is enough for (mostly) indie games? Is there any downside to using sd card for storage?

As long as the games are small, you could fit a good amount. It could still fill up quickly, even with indie titles these days. You'll want to get an SD card, or even a few.

No noticeable downsides between the internal storage and SD card, as long as you get a decent card.

Thanks for the info.

Though I heard from one guy that even if you install on sd card, some size of your internal storage will still be used, if so, that's kinda troublesome if I go for 512GB version.

I don't believe that is actually true. I've got a 512GB and the amount of used storage stays the same when I install games on my SD cards.

Shader pre-caching is the only thing you need to be bothered by.

That happens on all the Steam Decks, regardless of the storage size. In fact, your games do this on Windows PC too.

It is a non-issue, unless it bugs out and over caches. But it is just a bug, and not expected or even typical behavior.

You can buy an anti-glare film to put on the screen of any Steam Deck.

To me though; below 1TB is too small. But that's just me I guess.

I don't even see any point to them selling systems that have below 512GB

Hello,

i don't want to warm up an old topic, but i thought it fould fit best here.
As I read a lot about the OLED 512GB glossy vs 1TB anti-glare discussion, i'm not sure which one i should order.
Would it be possible to just order the 1TB variant and of cource have a look at it and if i really shouldn't like it, "just" send it back? Valves return policy allows it within 14 days.

I think if i could have a look at both variants in a store, this would be an easy decision, but because this is not possible, I think this could be a solution.

Thanks a lot!

In the end, I decided to get anti glare one, everything is perfect so I recommend.
