24 inch 1440p 165 monitor question*UPDATE*

Ok it arrived. The stand is higher quality than I expected. Monitor overall is a 7.5 out of 10. Looks great, doesnt scream game nerd. Fake HDR works as a gimmick.

Pros 165hz 1440p no dead/stuck pixels, working as should.

Cons. Colors feel washed out. For an IPS, this give me TN vibes but then, everything looks that way compared to using an OLED lol.

But overall I like it.

Hey all, I have a LG c3 120hz 4k (42 inch) for movies and SP games(LOVE IT)

I also have a 1080p 240hz VA 24 inch monitor(not the biggest fan of it but the price was so cheap I dont regret it)

I currently have a the notion to pick up a 24 inch nano ips 1440p IPS 165hz gaming monitor.

My question is this.


How much of a difference do you think 1440p 165hz ips at 24 inch vs 1080p 240hz 24 inch VA would make?

I am not looking at any other monitors(I dont really need to be looking at this, but I have an obsession and monitor addiction)

So for games like Fortnite, COD, PUBG, Arma 3, any MP PVP game would you prefer

1. 1080p 240hz VA or
2. 1440p 165hz IPS?


Please dont talk about 1440p 240hz or 4k 144hz, I know about those and thats not what I am after atm, Thanks.

1. it is the same size as my 1080p, so the size synergy is what attracts me.

2. I havent heard of the brand and never seen a 1440p at 24 inch before, so was curious.

Personally after testing my 4k 120hz vs my 1080p 240hz, I cant see the hz difference at all. I can tell 60 vs 120 but after 120hz, I cant really tell.


Amazon just said there was a delay in the delivery due to stock, so if it doesnt get shipped in the next 72 hours Ill just cancel and keep what I got.

its hard to tell what you mean by "difference" if its hz your asking ? no difference if its sharpness of screen ? if the pixel count is the same and should be should look sharper being a 24inch.buy how much ? who knows

There 27 inch O.L.E.D. monitors on the market these days. This 240 hz A.O.C. Agon Pro is just $650 right now.[www.amazon.com] Seems like L.G. makes those panels since they have something similar[www.lg.com].

you'll get worse fps and probably worse visuals. Unless this far played games prone to VA ghosting. If you go for higher res, get a way bigger monitor.

Please reread my opening post kindly. I have zero interest in any other monitors on the market today than the one I mentioned. Those 27 inch oleds are a joke. They are covered with a matte finish. If you have an OLED and need anti glare, but some curtains LMAO.


It might be a good monitor, but a matte finish on an OLED monitor is a no go for me under any circumstance. If it was glossy and I was shopping for a main monitor, that would be a nice contender.


The other reason I only want info on the 24 inch I mentioned is

1. I already hjave a 1080p of the exact same size, and if you turn the 24 inch to portrait mode, it will be 21 inches long, which is the exact same height of the LG C3 42 inch in vertical mode, so I can place both monitors on a mount on either side in portrait mode and keep the same synergy,


I have ran multiple monitors of several different sizes. Looks nasty, feels nasty and overall not appealing. Atleast for me.


But I do appreciate the link none the less. If it was a glossy monitor, I might of even been tempted to consider it for a later date or a 2nd pc build. but OLED with matte finishing....I cant..just cant.

I never did a review on my M28U 4k 144hz or my 35 inch 144hz 3440x1440 UW sadly.

But as you can see, I have an amateur monitor fetish.

I am not sponsored, everything I get comes from my personal wallet. But I intend to keep using my LG C3 as the main monitor for now.


Koori never heard of before my post, after doing more research, it turns out, this is the American version from HKC, and HKC is a known brand so after finding that out I pulled the trigger on it.


But I am still curious to find out how 165hz 1440p will feel vs 240hz hz 1080p. So when I get it Ill do a review and update here on my thoughts, and likes or regrets.

Best part of not being sponsored, if I made a mistake and its trash, I am going to tell you in no uncertain terms, I goofed up. LOL

I'm sure it will not be "trash" and my general observation is the even monitors of same-ish specs just out of factory 5-7 years later look much better. As there's constant development going on say on backlight -- that is not expressed on the PR sheet. On this forum we usually not compare the new to old, rather what is better on the current market offers for same budget.
