Nvidia spend tens of billions in R&D, the value of a GPU is so much more than the sum total of parts and manufacturing, I'd probably spend a little more time tackling my own ignorance before branding other people "brainless" if I was you.
4080 16gb may have been "reasonable" for $1200 USD before taxes, because "but but Nvidia spent 10s of billions on RnD!" but that's irrelevant to the consumer.
They sat on shelves for over a year.
I only got a RTX 4080 recently because the price dropped to $900 USD + taxes.
is no slouch a evga 3090 ftw ultra.as far as 4k goes your 100% correct its a fools game.
i run 1440 and get the best of both worlds.and if youve never used or seen raytracing in
a game maxed out with ultra settings then you'll never know how sweet it is using raytracing
on a 4k monitor with the settings tanked to fight for fps is a waste of time.and just for the
record 60fps is a decade or more old gaming.
and as for dlss 3 to those claiming its blurry im guessing you pulled this from some rank
youtuber ive used it and ive notice no blurriness from it.
any card over 250W is utterly useless..
power cost money MUCH money. kwh are expensive in my country.
and I kind of like x80ti cards.. the 40 series lacked one.
so make sure the 5xxx series has an x80ti and make sure it is early in it's release.
(usually the x70 and x80 where the cards a serie launched with with the x60 and x80ti coming 3 months after.)
and make sujre this x80ti has 4090 performance.. but uses only 250W or less..
I not care how much it have to cost.. but those are my wishes.
price of a card I little care for.. performance. ditto.. I just want something thats better than most of the peasants have..
but I very much care about power consumption.
I rather pay 2k upfront for a card.. than 4k over years of use in poweruse..
and I really NOT want to pay 2k upfront AND 4k in poweruse..
I think with 5xxx series iF they get the voltages low enough the time is right to finally move to 4k.
mostly only idiots went 4k already.
1 gpu :
**never should you have settings on anything but ultra
**under 60fps is unplayable.. above 100fps is preferable.
ONLY the 4090 can run 4k at 100fps.. at those settings
all other cards belong on 1440p or 1080p
2 screen
**widescreens belong ion the trash.. 16:9 is already to wide 4:3 was better
**anything but IPS or OLED is trash.. really nobody after 2015 should buy VN or TR screens
**it is useless to have 3840x2160.. if you don't also have a screen of at least 40 inch
after all if the screen is to small.. you aint going to be able to see all of it.. as it be to small.. and setting the screen to close to your eyes is very damaging to your eyesight.
**ofcourse your screen needs a refreshrate of 120 or more, a responcetime of 0.1 ms or less, and vsync and or gsync..
screens that meet all these specs did not excist until 3 years ago.. and than they was just 1 model and it was 4500 euro.. today there are 3 models each around 1800 euro..
just as good 1440 screens started in 2016 with just two model.. and costed 800 euro and today can be had for 250-300.. I expect that it be a few years before we see 40 inch oled screens with the right specs cost a more reasonable 600-700 euro..
soo... when 4090 launched it was the FIRST true 4k solution. it still is the only one.
and you needed that 4500 alienware screen to use it properly.
with the 5xxx launch.. here is to hope that at least the 5080, 5080ti, 5080S, 5090 and 5090ti can run 4k at 100fps ultra settings. the 5070 is unlikely. 5070ti might.. barely..
that cut off point matters..
with a 4080 at about 1200 euro.. an 5080 likely cost 1500 euro..
a 4070ti.. at around 700 likely means a 5070ti will cost more like 800
if the 5070ti is not capable at 4k ultra 100fps than.. we the vast mayority will still have to go 1440p.
a 1500 gpu with an 1800 euro screen might be a step up vs a 2200 euro gpu with a 4500 screen.. it still is not for the average gamer..
if howver that 5070ti gets 4090 performance and is reasonably priced.. than it might.. an 800 euro gpu with an 1800 screen is steep but might be within 40% of the gamers budget.
What is the best GPU for power usage?
RTX 4070 Super is pretty decent with 220W.
Known to spike up to 490W.
RTX 4080 never spikes to 490w.
Typical power consumption when gaming 300-320W (reference card) but short power spikes over that do happen.
Admittedly nowhere near as much or often as 4090 or 3090 Ti.
Would be 675W max possible 600W card and 75W PCIE but cooling would be a massive challenge.
If RTX 5060 can meet 4K Ultra at 60FPS then that would be a bigger deal for a lot of people if affordably priced.
