Ryzen 7 7800X3d temps with Noctua NH D-15
I had to do a reseat of the chip, but ran out of Noctua's paste and used an old syringe of Coolermaster's paste. But what temps should I see with this cooler when just browsing/idling?
Coretemp shows it at 43 degrees cel atm.
This is in a Fractal Design Torrent compact case with 2 140s on the bottom as well.

Temp in the 40s seems a bit high to me.
Is there no way to manually control the fan speeds with the Fractal case?

40C for this CPU is not high. You could go a bit lower with a bigger case and 420 AIO + offset bracket but not by much.

Here are my temps: https://ibb.co/XktgQXV

My case + cooling: https://ibb.co/P1xFdvm

If you wish to push for lower temps you may get like 2 degrees better results if you get Noctua's offset bracket, turn the CPU cooler fans up and maybe (I don't have any experience with that) underclock your CPU.

I just don't understand why would you push for better idle temps when they are meaningless for any other reasons than bragging rights. If bragging is the goal then custom water cooling, cpu delidding, direct die, liquid metal and other terms is what you need. But again - why would you do it to yourself?

C1REX, your pics don't load.

I did find an app that can individually control each fan, if it finds that sensor has speed control.
It's simply called Fan Control. https://getfancontrol.com/
If you have daisy chained fans, it won't register completely.

What's your ambient temp, though?
If it's 10 degrees, your cooling is not good enough.
If it's 30 degrees, your cooling is great.
Context matters.

10 cel hotter than my i7 7700k. Both systems are like 5 feet apart.

I doubt that cooling and enclosures are the same on both systems.

At an average 15-20 ambient, both CPUs are doing great, actually.

47 to 50 degrees C idle

84 degrees C max load

Using air cooling. I run my fans very quiet, so barely audible until the CPU reaches 75*c. This avoids the fans constantly ramping up in speed and slowing down.
My temps with multiple browser tabs open and video playing. Same cooler, no turbo boost.

yeah but what's your ambient temp? how many pc fans do you have? how fast are the fans on the cooler running?

So many variables.

It's 24cel in my 1 bedroom apartment.

You're Joking right?

New gen AMD cpu's run hot and can easily run at 90° daily without worry.

It's normal. The 3d vcache runs hot

I have got the temp down a bit after installing Fan Control and not using the Torrent's fan hub.

What were the temps under load now? What did you use to test cpu under load?

No real loads yet as I haven't moved my game drives over yet.

Do NOT USE Ryzen Master...

Use good thermal paste. Silver-based or graphene-based but NEVER silicone-based crap.

I would NOT TRUST CoolerMaster paste at all.

Don't believe the hype, I have a 7000 series Ryzen and just used some Stainless Steel Anti-sieze paste. It just needs to conduct heat, nothing special.

Any thermal paste / compound is sufficient for 7800x3d.

I'm using coolermaster paste that was sitting around for years and my temps are low/mid 40s cel.
