CPU cooler heat pipes?
I am bulding my first PC soon and I'm going with a intel 12600k/kf CPU. The CPU can reportedly get at a max temperature of around 85°C and I'm wondering if I should go with 4 or 6 heatpipes on the CPU cooler. I'm definitely not the smartest on PCs and there might be a more important component on CPU coolers. I'm also open to recommendations for a cooler that is under $40.

OP, if you want the best air cooler, you won't go wrong with the Noctua NH-D15, or one of its variants (Chrome Black, S).

If you want to save money and risk a high-performance, high-heat CPU possibly overheating, I'll go make the popcorn now.

Pointless to drop $100 on Noctua.

If not available in your location then Deepcool AK620 is still quite a bit cheaper and does the same thing.
^ this
toss this on the good cheap cooler pile too

thermalright is pretty much competing with themselves now

10 years ago the nh-d14 was king, but now $30-40 coolers can beat it
similar story to the 212 at that time, it was the best <$25, but not anymore
If you can do the six pipes, instead of four, that's more heat dissipation.

Noctua makes good coolers. Can get pricey. They're actually nice to even replace stock fans on some gpus to keep them even cooler

I would also get those pipes to coil out around the motherboard, to pull the heat away from it, then have all of that close to the rear fan, with ideally, a side fan that blasts the motherboard and the heatsink

not actually how heatpipes work
they use phase change, copper pipe is cool, the heated fluid turns to gas and travels inside the center of the pipe to the cool zones on rad, while liquid flows through the wick attached to the copper tube

if you are talking about the cooler not putting airflow over the vrm mosfets/heatsinks, tower coolers actually do a good job at that too
its the clc coolers that do not put any airflow on the board

So it doesn't function as copper? That makes less than no sense, I'm sorry

That's like helium not making my voice high if I inhale it
correct, it does not work as a solid copper pipe

heat evaporates the liqud from the wick inside the pipe
then the gas is transfered to the cold side, and turned back liquid, which flows down the wick on copper surface to the hot area again

its way more effective than a solid copper pipe
it takes way more energy to convert liqud to gas, and releases the energy when gas converts back to liquid

i run air as well.

MasterAir Maker 8 High-end CPU air cooler (3d vapor chamber)

seems to do quite well and keeps my cpu very cool, it can fit the same sized noctua fans im using as well, but im using up the fans that came with it for now and maybe the other i have that came with the case.

i also have 9 of the fans below (plus the 2 that come with the cpu cooler)

(9x) -NOCTUA NF-A14 iPPC-3000 PWM, 140mm PWM,AAO Frame Technology and SSO2 Bearing Fans

of the 7-8 years (since i built the pc) i been running these fans, i have only had 1 fail and i can probably fix it myself (just havent bothered yet, it just spins, stops, rinse, repeat... it not the fan curve as it does it by itself when powered), but i had a replacement anyway (same fan), they run great, seem to last a long time and unlike my cpu fans or the others that came with the case (set aside if they are ever needed) can be set on a fan curve from 0-100, while my others varied from allowing around 20/30-100 (fan speed).

anywho, noctua is a great brand, both fans and from what i have seen (not personally used) are one of the best for air cooling.

something you should also consider, is your thermal paste, you need good stuff that works great and lasts quite awhile (even more so with all the overclocking going on), i personally use and have bought in bulk, arctic silver 5... but there are other good brands as well, but i also still change my paste every 2-3 years or if i notice higher than normal temps due to paste being dry or an air pocket was formed, ect..

tdlr: more pipes is better.
