Considering downloading new Nvidia app (beta). Questions?
1) From my understanding when the new app is installed, it seems to replace or uninstall GeForce Experience. Is this correct?

2) From my understanding, it shares a number of settings with the Nvidia Control Panel. Are these settings synced or separate?

3) Continuing from the previous question. If they are separated, which program's settings take priority?

4) What has your experience with the new app been like? Does it include any unnecessary background functions?

1) Yes.

2) Synced.

4) Seems to run better than both Geforce Experience and the old control panel.

So, would you say that at this time it's complete enough and runs well enough to actually download, or better off waiting for the proper release?

It's not fully feature complete and not ready to replace both those apps yet. If you are willing to accept that, give it a try. Otherwise i'd say wait.

Yes unless you willing to do a complete DDU wipe of everything NVIDIA and then install this, knowing that it WILL have various issues, such as overall stablilty to name a few. Then sure, beta test it yourself if you want. You can also DDU wipe again and/or uninstall everything NVIDIA and go back to an older driver with just classic NVCP if you prefer.

I would just continue on with a stable driver like 551.23 and just get rid of GFE. Then wait for the stable public release of their new app. I'm sure much improved drivers would come out by then too.

What all is listed in NVCP and how it gets applied is just a matter of switches in the Windows Registry. So overall, NVCP is not complicated. Its GFE that is a little more complicated. But overall is good that NVIDIA is looking to finally have a unified app that combines NVCP + GFE. While I don't want any game optimization crap, it wouldn't hurt to have the other GFE features available. I don't mind the NVIDIA Telemetry cause all of that is very easy to disable and/or block.

I downloaded it and then stopped using it an uninstalled it.

I did not spend a lot of time playing with it, but as far as I could see, it just sat on top of the Control Panel and anything you could do with the app, was easier in the Control Panel. Although the app incorporated more functions, these are functions I never used anyway. The big downfall of the App is the adverts and information collection. It is peppered with bloatware.
