most likely yes
get a new keyboard
It might be very joever for your keyboard, if you don't have an active warranty that'll allow it to be cheaply replaced, then you're most likely going to have to get a new one

Would you like some suggestions and if so, leave a budget
its my laptop so i'll have to find a plugin keyboard
Laptop then you should take it apart and remove the battery and keyboard. As if any water got in the keyboard it could easily have gotten to other areas of the laptop.

Can get a internal keyboard replacement on Ebay
you can get replacement keyboards for the laptop

but if that was water damaged, it may have damaged the mobo also

carefully take it fully apart (watch a yt vid), ifixit has good ones
and let it fully dry or clean it with isopropyl alcohol 95%+
let it dry, then apply new thermal paste and pads where needed

If by 'wonked up' you mean, spilled a sugar filled drink on it. Then you only need to remove the keyboard and clean the sugar away. The sugar is probably just grounding out the keyboard somewhere. You can remove the keyboard from the laptop and clean with a Q-tip and some contact cleaner.
Keyboards have multiple layers to them. It all needs to be cleaned and dried. Clean with lint free rag with ISO-Alch

But depending how much liquid were talking about, don't be surprised if it went beyond just the keyboard. Which could kill the motherboard or something on the motherboard such as the cpu and/or gpu

omg, just a little bit of watermelon juice and my keys were so gummed up, I actually had to remove the caps and dig yucky stuff out of the switches themselves with a needle.

You can try, but it's going to be more challenging in a laptop obviously. There are some guides online but they say to let it dry for a full 48 hours and NOT to use anything like a blow dryer.

Sometimes, physical damage to the keyboard doesn't show up until later, like even days later, as the residue works its way down to the keys in increments. I would take it to a shop and let someone there take it apart and assess it--if this is an affordable option for you.
it's been days since the spill, could there still be water in the laptop?
Yes, water could still be trapped inside, shouldn't even be powering it on
