Dell S3422DWG flickering no longer an issue?
Dell recently released their latest driver (M3C106) for the s3422dwg (for the first time in over 2 years), and I think they fixed the backlight flickering problem when the monitor reaches sub 60fps in HDR content on Nvidia GPU's. I wonder if this type of update is rolling out for other Freesync Monitors. Anyways, it's a welcome edition.

monitors do not need drivers

flickering is often bad/dying backlight

vrr might cause it, just update the amd/nvidia gpu drivers

Perhaps I used the wrong word, driver instead of firmware update. The biggest problem I had with this monitor was it's Sub-60 HDR performance, which in low lighting, can cause a serious headache. Since the update, It seems to have been resolved, now I just want to know if others have gotten the same results.

it could be a firmware bug

Probably, one of the most common bugs when you use a Freeync monitor with an Nvidia GPU. It appears with this monitor to have been resolved. Good thing too. I was beginning to regret my purchase.

except for firmware update (on feb 8th they released the M3C107), did you do something more to reduce or eliminate the flickering effect? is it gone even when the framerate is around 60fps with adaptive sync enabled with an nvidia gpu?

as far as I can tell, the flickering is totally gone. I have quite a few games that regularly dive under 60fps, and even in hdr they no longer flicker. It's now a complete non-issue (at least for me)

updating the firmware didn't work?

unfortunately it's a problem that affects VA panels, this one in particular. Sleep, you have been lucky to solve it updating the firmware, but reading comments on the internet fw update hasn't been a solution for everyone. having an nvidia gpu i'm looking for other options.

I've tweaked this monitor a ton. Here is what I did so far

I disabled Rivatuner's global framerate limiter setting

I downloaded an ICC profile from rtings .com, instead of using Windows caliberation tool

I enabled fast-sync in the Nvidia control panel.

I downloaded all of the software associated with this monitor short of the Dell Software updater suite.

Upgrading from firmware M3C102 to M3C107 resolved all my flickering issues.
