Any work around to get Rust to run on steam deck?

Doubtful, because Rust's current anti-cheat isn't configured to support the Deck and there's tons of problems running it on desktop Linux as well.

The devs talked about potential Linux support but that might not come to fruition.

Wouldn't be hard to get it working on Linux if they drop the EAC crap. It's fairly useless as an anti-cheat anyways. But yes for now that's the reason it won't work on Linux / Steam Deck.

I'm guessing this is one reason people would put Win10 on Steam Deck

I loaded windows onto steam deck but waiting for the rest of the drivers to be released for OLED SD. Anyone running it on windows that way with no problems?

Facepunch doesn’t explicitly support the Deck so the game isn’t going to run very well on the hardware in general my dude

It’s already demanding on desktop systems because of the updates over the years, takes a powerful cpu and a pretty good gpu just for consistent 60 fps in heavily populated servers

Thanks my dude.

Update rust seems to run ok on windows just having trouble configuring steam deck controls to be compatible with rust now.

Like I said, Facepunch doesn't support it, there's too many controls for Rust to be viable on a handheld device in its intended state.

The lack of DLSS on the Deck because it uses AMD hardware is also not to your advantage, because the game is quite competitive, a lot of people are using it for better performance so you're competing against those who are going to be consistently running the game at a higher framerate which gives them a slight edge. A single frame drop can get you killed and looted.

Got it to work. Works surprisingly well once you configure the controller settings. Also able to bind buttons in game options. I agree pc players will have advantage but it seems to be running well on OLED deck

RUST is very resource intensive, getting a controller to work is one thing, getting the game to work is another since Linux isn't supported. Trying to run it without eac would probably not go well; you'd either be limited to unsupported servers likely with cheaters, or could risk an outright game ban. It should kick you out/prevent a launch if EAC isn't running.

They have Windows running on their Deck to avoid the Linux side of the problem

EAC isn't even an issue for a lot of games on Linux, all they have to do is freaking enable support for it
