Gotta love Windows 10 updates...
Windows 10 22h2 security update [KB5034441] fails to install with code: 0x80070643

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/windows-10-22h2-security-update-kb5034441-fails-to/0848f288-d781-44cc-acf5-dcd8fc6eff27

It fails because of the WindowsRE partition being to small even though the size was managed by Windows when it was installed.

This is getting annoying.

No reason not to use it if it doesn't affect your performance.
Also, remember that the WinRE partition is designed to be universal, so all drivers needed for emergency repairs, including BitLocker, are included.

Enterprise--a lot of them for starters. It's intended to protect against ransomware among other things.

The thing is, with this bypass vulnerability, the attacker has to have physical access to the computer. A risk but a relatively smaller one vs something that can be remotely hacked thru the network. :tf2scream:

Still waiting for that fix, Microsoft. :steamfacepalm:

Not the least bit concerned.

No, if running Home version, neither in Windows 10 or 11. BitLocker can be activate once you upgrade your version of Windows. But not in Home version. This was mentioned on the first page.

I'm gonna try this script and see if it works. Good luck to anyone who takes the chance.

Oops, here:

Extended the partition with the free version of minitool partition wizard. Takes 10 seconds lol
Ugh, found out I had a corrupted winre so none of these things work on here. Looks like I'll have to repair-install Windows as I found rebuilding the winre was a little complex. Hid the update with this cute little thing that Microsoft used to provide but has since deprecated.

Since I'm running Home version of Windows, it's not a relevant update for me.

No because i'm a system engineer and i know windows and windows server in depth.

Bitlocker is for

a) company employees
b) boomers and non-IT savy people

I would never use a feature that can drastically decrease performance while doing R/W operations.

And besides, power users store their data on servers, nas or have other dedicated backups.

They do not rely on bitlocker.

Companies do. I get not using BitLocker at home, but device theft is a real threat companies face.
The equivalent update in Windows 11 auto-magically resized the partition, making it a little over 747 MB, from 500+ MB. If you run 11, that's one advantage you have over Windows 10 where I think people still have to re-size it themselves.
Don't have a recovery partition using WIn10, deleted them when first installed and never had a problem. I backup with Terabyte Image for Windows and use their Boot Manager for all my 5 OS's on one Nvme2 drive. I can resize any of the partitions with the TeraByte program too.

Weird, my performance even on a PCIe 4.0 x4 SSD is about the same with and without BitLocker. But then I do have a 13900K so AES isn't even a slight challenge for it.
