Gtx 980 ti msi max temp
Hi i forgot to turn the fans properly on when i played the division. I n oticed this about 30 minutes after i started the game and the gpu had 91 celcius. I turned the fans on maximum and then the framerate went back to normal. Could the gpu have been damaged?

well i dont think so either, but if it were to be damaged how would i notice?

91 degrees is probably dangerous for long periods of time. But for ~30 minutes is probably ok.

But you should set a custom fan curve instead of manually controlling the fan... Because thats just dumb. Might actually damage the gpu by forgeting to turn on the fan for a few hot summer days... They do throttle at high temps, but that does not completelly save the gpu from damage.

^^^ yea if there was any bad damage or burning out it would prolly not work anymore or you would smell burning and be close to death... but 91c shouldnt do that and those cards are supposed to throttle (lower clocks) before officially over-heating

Yeah, but there is a difference to damaging it and break it. If it were damaged it could for example give lower fps in games or graphical glitches and so on

Yeah, artifacting, driver crashing or potentially blue screening could happen with a seriously damaged gpu. But thats very unlikely with modern gpu's because they throttle quite a lot at high temps. Still running at 91 degrees for a very long time could likely reduce the lifespan of the gpu so i would avoid that.

And in what timespan can i assume it didnt get damaged? Like after a week of normal playing and no crashes or blue screens?

a few years if you really want to stress your gpu use a app like furmark it should show errors if your computer is damaged (make sure the fan is on :p)

I used it once, and i scored just a little under 4k standard. I love my pc. So it will stress tye gpu enough to show errors if there are some?

I don't think firestrike shows errors at all. It's just a performance test. I think Furmark actually shows errors, but i havent used it in years so i'm not sure.
