vulkaninfo32
Anyone know what this is?

I downloaded the most RECENT nVidia Geforce Experience update and I later realized

that it came with this "vulkaninfo32" .EXE file.

I double-clicked it and it opened a DOS window, I got scared, and closed that hell of a window.

DX12 / Vulkan API
Read the driver release notes

I was wondering the same thing, then stumbled on this. Wikipedia explains a bit more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulkan_%28API%29

Cross-platform API, interesting. It'd be polite of them to make it more obvious it's going to show up - I saw the new program in my start menu ... and wandered straight over here. :ftlslug:

Look under your steam folder, you will even find Vulkan:
SteamOverlayVulkanLayer.dll
SteamOverlayVulkanLayer.json
SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.dll
SteamOverlayVulkanLayer64.json

Do you know what OpenGL is? It is very similar to that. How about DirectX 12?

It's a valid graphic driver API, which if an app/game is coded to use can accelerate it's graphics performance. It reduces the CPU usage, making more direct use of your graphics card. It can also work across multiple platforms, such as PC, Android, Linux, etc.

Go under: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

These are the program shortcuts listed on your Start Menu. Find "Vulkan (version number)" and simply remove that folder / shortcut. Note: It's not removing the program itself, rather just the menu to it.

Vulkan is an API (Application Program Interface) and unless you know how to program with it, it's of no interest to use or view the information about it. So just ignore or remove it's shortcuts.

If you really want to see the information for it, you would open a command prompt (cmd.exe) and run it via piping (outputing the data to a text file):
C:\Program Files (x86)\VulkanRT\(version number)\vulkaninfo.exe > vulkaninfo.txt

Then you just can open the TXT file under Windows to read directly. A lot of technical stuff which it probably meaningless to most users.

Did you really get scared from a CMD window? As someone that does batch scripts for a pastime, I'm questioning you.

Deleted Vulcan API files? Great. You'll be back on here once some mainstream games start running Vulcan... telling us about your troubles...

*sigh* :steamfacepalm:

It's not deleting the Vulcan API... as I mentioned it's just the shortcuts under the Start Menu, linking to the command prompt Vulcan infomation dumps, which most people won't access anyways. Removing a shortcut doesn't get rid of the program itself, but it does help clean up mess you would never use and keeps it out of sight and mind.

The real location of Vulcan would be under: C:\Program Files (x86)\VulkanRT\

Games and even the Steam Client itself will still happily use it.
