AMD r9 270x 4gb vs GTX 960 4gb

hi guys i wanna upgrade my AMD r9 270x 4gb i have been looking at a gtx 960 but im not sure if its better/how much better it is to my AMD r9 270x 4gb, any help would be great thank you :)

960 is better than a 270x

2g and 4g ver will be the same
4g will allow for higher settings, but the gpu is not strong enough to effectiely use more than 2g of vram

Ok ty, so is it worth upgrading from my amd r9 270x 4gb to a gtx 960 4gb because for me its alot of money and i dnt really wanna have to replace it any time soon.

No it wouldn't ^, gtx970/r9 390 should be your target.

Save some money for GTX 970 or R9 390, you will have much bigger boost then going from 270 to 960.

ah ok ty guys :) the extra 4gb of ram on the r9 390 does that make any difference for 1080 gaming? the upgrade is so i can play warhammer total war on max settings when it comes out :)

the ram quantity on it does not make much of a difference, its the ram speed and bandwdith
along with the core speed and count on the gpu

Ok ty, i have seen a upgrade that i am thinking of gettting but im not sure which one is better and there isnt much between the price - EVGA GTX 970 FTW GAMING ACX 2.0 4GB GDDR5 or EVGA GTX 970 FTW+ GAMING ACX2.0+ 4GB GDDR5 , have no idea which one is better :(

The "normal" FTW one. Price / performance is off with the + version for it's slightly higher OC potential.

Also have a look at MSI & Gigabyte btw.

i did see the msi, does look kl but wanst too sure if it was as gd as the evga gpu? sori im not very gd at knowing the best pc parts :/

MSI EVGA Gigabyte Zotac Galaxy are all good quality brands. Get whichever suits you best and is within your budget. Note that EVGA has a history of going crazy with versions. They'll have a bunch of the same name just with slightly different clock/mem speeds.

If you basically just want a good GTX 970 for easy plug & play, just buy either of those two - whatever is cheaper, available, color more to your taste, it doesn't really matter.
