It should have already by default been set to enough; given you have 8GB RAM installed.
Share your hardware specs & OS.
Run malware/virus scans with known good scanners; like Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, Anti-Rootkit, ESET Free Online Scan...
The point is I set the Page Files to reccomended settings, but something overrides it and decides the Paging File should e set to 0
Such as Samsung Magician for example.
Those sometimes will do this via "OS optimization" which should never be done this way.
Always do it yourself. If you don't understand it, leave it on the OS default.
And when u change the PageFile; u need to click SET on that window where u change it; then click OK on both those windows there; then reboot to apply the change.
On the System Properties > Advanced (tab), then go under Performance > Settings.
On the Performance Options > Advanced (tab) now, you will find Virtual memory > Change.
Untick "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives".
If you have multiple drives - set "No page file" on the others drives, but ensure you have one set to the main drive. If you are using SSD (Solid State Drive), it's best to keep this paging file to a fixed size.
So below that, select the "Customize size".
At 8GB Memory, you can optimally set the Virtual Memory Page Size to 4GB.
At 16GB Memory, you can set the Virtual Memory Page Size to 1GB.
Set Custom Size:
Initial Size (MB) : 4096
Maximum size (MB): 4096
(which is 4GB)
Click the "Set" button next to it. Then "OK" to back out. Reboot. Double check it's applied.
Note: Do NOT leave your Windows Operating System with no paging file. Some older applications will rely on it to function correctly. It should always be at least 1GB minimum (which is "1024").
If you want debug memory dumps (when the PC crashes or if you program and bug fix apps), then your pagefile should be equal or greater than the memory RAM for it all to fit in. Window defaults as this, but 99% of users won't need this, so it can be halved (ignoring memory dumps as it's impossible for them to read/use anyways).
It's been 13+ mins; is it ok now? It should take all of 5 mins to address this issue u are having here.
Thanks for your help anyway
Create a new windows user with full admin rights (no pw for now)
Log off the current user and login to new admin user one.
Now try and change such settings.
Go to pagefile settings, click NONE > SET > OK > OK
Restart Windows.
Now go back to this newly created admin user; back to pagefile settings > click auto manage paging for all drives > SET > OK > OK > reboot once more; now see if that works.
