Just install 9.0c
that is what games require if they use "DX9"

Google: DirectX Redist June 2010
Download, extract, run the DXSETUP.EXE by right clicking that file, click Run As Admin

When DX9 was the norm; there was 9.0a, b, and c
Now all we care about is 9.0c

Basically, if they do a release of DirectX that only has bugfixes, supports more versions of Windows, etc. but has no actual new features in the API, it gets a letter tacked on instead of bumping the number. 9.0a and 9.0b exist, but I'm not sure they were ever released as regular updates for end users.

9.0a and b were releases as updates; but everything those had, 9.0c will include all that within it's files/coding.

Games that use 9.0 basically require 9.0c
That's all there really is to it.

Have a fresh OS install? Then it does not include all the needed DX files; this is why the June 2010 package still is required to install.
