i7 4820k for 200$

So how really good is really 4820k. I mean soon im building my new pc and i saw this deal. First i was thinking an i5 4590 but now that i see this, an i7 4820k for 200$ i was shocked. I know motherboards are expensive for the LGA 2011 socket but i found one for 100$ so thats not a problem. So how much better is i7 4820k over i5 4590?

Price is for the used CPU i guess?

Outdated, but powerful, CPU on a dead socket with no upgrade path, that eats up 130W and requires good cooling.

So, there's that.

Having no upgrade path is no big deal since it will easily last for a number of years.

But if it's used the "catch" could be that it was formerly overclocked a lot and therefore was damaged.

Don't forget about it's requirements towards power consumption, cooling, and proper mainboard.

That CPU uses the now-outdated LGA 2011 socket. An i7-4790k or i7-6700k has better single-core performance. But an i5-4590 is sufficient enough for gaming. You should get an i5-6500, though, since it uses the newer socket LGA 1151.

i7 4820 is a great CPU and once overclocked into the 4.5GHz region it'll easily keep up with anything less than Skylake-E

What kind of budget for a cooler?

Some decent ones:

- Cryorig H5 Universal (Cryorig H7 doesn't support 2011)
- Noctua NH-D14
- Noctua NH-D15
- Corsair H80 or H100i (liquid coolers)
