mic recognized but isn't working!

My headset is being recognized and both the illumination and the audio is working perfectly but the mic is not working!
The mic is built into the headset.

Headset : SteelSeries Siberia Elite Prism - Jet Black
OS: Windows 8.1
processor : intel i5 4th gen

All the drivers are upto date and there was no issue until two days ago! :(

1.
->The laptop recognizes the mic but it doesn't pick up any sound when i connect it via the usb line,ie; along with the usb sound card ( provided by steel series )
->when i connect the headset using an adaptor ( also provided by steel series ) which converts the line to a audio + mic 3.5mm jack, both the headphones and the mic work perfectly fine.
-> Whichever way i connect the headset, the headphones and the illumination work perfectly and the audio quality is perfect.

when i connect the headset to the other laptops, it( the headset on the whole - mic + headphones) works perfectly fine.
(when i connected it to the other laptop, i connected it once via the usb output, ie; along with the sound card and once using the 3.5mm jack adapter and in both ways, the headset,the illumination and the mic worked perfectly fine )

since i don't have any other usb headset, i didn't have a chance to check out that problem, but im pretty sure that it would work because i know that the sound card or the usb port itself is not the issue and also because my previous headphones ( siberia v2 ) also worked using the usb soundcard concept and i never faced any issues.

4.
-> i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling all the software and drivers related to the headset and it did not do me any good, the problem continues to persist.
-> it is set as the default device in my windows sound settings.
-> it doesn't work with any other software as well, for example it doesnt work in skype as well.
-> the laptop doesn't have a GPU, so the uninstall geforce experience share thing won't be valid for me!

All the above problems are there only with the current laptop, the headset works perfectly fine with other laptops and other desktops.

I had issues with my prisms. Could here sound but mic didn't work. I'm on W10. After a bit of digging. Found that windows kept muting mic in settings. Turned back on and worked fine ever since.

Will this work for the PRISM RAW as well? I cant seem to find any guide or anything. I cant return it either cause it was on clearance.
