How easy is it to scratch it to the point of functional damage? Would touching it several times (while trying to screw it in) hurt it? I was grounded on the case

Doubtful.. as long as you are careful with it it will probably be fine.

Should I have RAM in for first boot test to ensure a safe boot?

Ok. Another question. Fan and water cool headers. I can't find CPU fan header, pump header, or fan 3.

Should be a diagram in the manual pointing out everything on the board.

mobos are pretty tough
bumping it with the screwdriver wont hurt it, unless it goes thru a few layres of the pcb

If you scratch it on the PCB not on the small "parts" that are on the PCB nothing happens... Grounded with your case? You can generate a static shock even each 15s it depends on what you're standing.

One tip. Never go on a carpet or build a PC on it.
I didnt know about the static shock thing and i killed 2x Maximus VII Ranger and 1x Asrock extreme 4 it was 2 years ago ^^ That was first time that i was building my PC on a carpet..

CPU and RAM in. Everything secure
LEDs and fan turn on but no display

is everything plugged in and seated correctly?? all power connectors are plugged in?? im assuming this is your first build, if everything is plugged in and seated correctly it sounds like some component is not working properly.. a faulty cpu, motherboard, ram, video card can cause a computer to not post (run with no video).. if you have more than 1 ram stick try using 1 at a time and trying that to eliminate faulty ram the odds of more than 1 stick being faulty at the same time is very slim

if you have a video card AS WELL AS video ports on the motherboard at the back unplug the video card and try again connecting the monitor to the video ports on the back of the computer on the motherboard backplate

Putting just 1 in worked for RAM. Probably just cause it's first boot?
Fluffy 21 FEB 2016 a las 18:11
"nvm last post" could be for first boot but try both after first boot and if it still doesnt work it could mean faulty ram make sure both sticks (if 2 sticks) are in matching colour slots

Question. No post test beeps(if board can make sound) does this indicate there's nothing to be worried about in regards to have putten it together?
Fans started winding down when BIOS screen came up asking me to hit f1, is this normal?
Fluffy 21 FEB 2016 a las 18:17
some boards dont beep especially those with led indicators for hardware issues like yours has. prolly doesnt make sounds.... yes f1 or various f configurations depending on the board is normal
Prowlcorp 21 FEB 2016 a las 18:18
Ah I mean the fans
Fluffy 21 FEB 2016 a las 18:19
fans winding down is a a configuration option in the bios (you can change fan speeds) but be careful what you change if you do chage things in the bios as incorrect chages can lead to no post

Ok. So just to clear things up.
Scenario: I think I damaged the motherboard/CPU.
1.where are the post test lights I'm told this one had and should they be lit for good status or bad?
2. If post shows up good and prime95 shows up good is there no longer a chance it's damaged?
Fluffy 21 FEB 2016 a las 20:22
i think red led for bad? im just guessing based on my own experience with mobo leds. i dont know where yours are but usually they are on the bottom or bottom sides of mobo... yes if it passes prime 95 (which u should do on any new build) its very unlikely its damaged... its not "that" easy to damage a motherboard while installing and grounding to the case is pretty effective

in all reality if u damaged the mobo you wouldnt have made it this far... prime 95 is high cpu and ram usage to mostly test those parts... it is important to get some program to monitor temperatures while prime 95
