at lower res a single link can
but dual link will at 1080 144hz and 1440p to 120hz
dp is needed for 1440p 144hz

You need a Dual Link DVI-D cable, a standard one can't do 144htz.

hdmi 1.4 and later cables are exactly the same
no such thing as a 2.0 cable

if the gpu and monitor are both 2.0 capable they will work at that spec using a 1.4 cable

I suggest going with DisplayPort. Your two links are not working for me. My 144Hz monitor came with a DP cable. I bought one separately though and it has a DP logo on the wire per standards that can be found here: http://www.displayport.org/faq/#DisplayPort%20General%20FAQs. If you want to know the DP cable I got, I can give it.

Hello my friend, don't look at 144hz MOST ! important is Gsync... Gsync 60hz is better than 144hz with NO Gsync.
Trust me when i go from 120hz (LG 24GM77-B 240hz boost)
going from 60hz to this LG with 120hz was huge like OMFG ! so smooth !!!
now imagine the same happens going from 144hz to 60hz Gsync/Freesync..

Then i go from 120hz LG to 144hz Freesync (Freesync is faster than Gsync) and i made big eyes you will NEVER see games so smooth.

Go Gsync or Freesync trust me... i didnt pay for fun that much for my FS2735

Okay, so DJ I take it that DisplayPort is not an option? Well then, can't really help outside of that. Also, not any and all DisplayPort cable are made the same. Get a cheap one and you won't be able to have a desired resolution or refresh rate. The cheap ones in my opinion are not worth the hassle. I would say the same applies with HDMI cables. I think poor quality HDMI cables put a bad taste in my mouth for that cable standard.

what gpu are you using, if the gpu and monitor are not hdmi 1.4 or better it will not be able to run above 60hz

1.2/1.3 are similar, 1.3 adds the audio return channel so the tv can delay the audio to match its picture delay

1.4 adds the some bandwidth, enough for 1080p 120hz
2.0 adds more bandwidth, enough for 4k 60hz

Yes, I know but Im getting 2 and my gpu only has one DVI port. Could you find me a HDMI 2.0 cable on amazon please?

HDMI 2.0 does not have specific cables.
