Can I run an SP fan as my exhaust fan if...
My CPU cooler heatsink sits directly in front of it? I know an AF fan is usually what you want for an exhaust, but there's roughly 6 inches between my Hyper 212 evo heat sink and my exhaust fan.

Not sure what you are referring to with SP vs AF, maybe you can enlighten me? Also not sure of the specifics of what you're asking. Any computer fan can be used as an exhaust fan if there is a place to mount it.
yes

even if the 212evo fan is mounted as pull tward the rear exhaust fan it will be fine

Static pressure vs Air flow optimized

Lost me too but after the explanation I'm still shaking my head, used to be high static pressure or not, AF is a new one for me.

Ps, for the OP, static pressure is just that all fans have it, high or low is the descriptive.

He is probably referring to Corsair's branding. They use AF and SP for airflow- and static pressure-optimized fans.
Yes I'm using the Corsair fans.
the corsair sp fans are designed for radiators
the af fans are designed for open areas
if there is a gap between the fan and next component (over 1/4 in) the af fan will be best
They are also good for using as front intake fans if your HDD cages restrict air flow.
