Yeah I got that one and nothin
is there an "X" switch and "D" switch on the back of it? also is it the actual Xbox 360 controller designed for use for PC's or is it just a regular one with a charger cable to usb attachement.
If you have the X and D switch flick said switch to X for Xinput or the "Native" Xbox 360 api.
the little D if present is for Dinput designed for older games.
rock-candy is your issue that controller is third party as such it wont be fixable without XboxCe for certin games that dont support it as its an Dinput controller most likely (thus wont work with a ton of games unlss they support old Dinput
If the Rock-Candy is new, I would try returning that.
The Xbox 360 Rock Candy pads are officially licenced by MS and as such should work out of the box as an X-input device, Just like my EA Sports FIFA Pad.
it doesnt, its a Dinput pad straight and simple its why you can buy it for 20$ compared to an actual Xbox360 controller for 45$. Xinput controllers are expensive compared to rock-candy as theyre designed to work native with Xbox games and the like on PC so they charge more.
Dinput controllers are cheapers because not many games make use of Dinput post 2010 everyone has swapped but the Dinput rock candy controllers exist so people can use em for their emulators and old Dinput games.
Logitech F710 or example is designed to do both and why i bought it over the Xbox360 controller. My last 20$ cheapo controller was like the OP's stuck in Dinput mode by design and as such i made use of xpadder and X360ce to get around my issues
and its "Licnesed" by microsoft to "Look" like the 360 controller not play like it same thing with the PS3 version of the rock candy they're made to look like theyre actual console legit controllers but in reality theyre good old cheapo Dinput controllers.
grab an Xbox one controller its Xinput by default or grab a F710 by logitech and have the best of both worlds.
He's talking about Rock Candy 360 pads not PC ones. If it used D-Input it wouldn't work on the Xbox 360, the format it was designed for
even the 360 pad is indeed a "Joypad" like a typical Dinput its shell does not change the technology inside it. Heres the fun part about the Xbox-360 it supports Dinput as well but only via USB controllers thus again why rock-candy exist.
PC on the other-hand its games demand one or the other not both so having a controller that can do one and not the other is his issue which has been around for a while among other gamers why logitech was smart with the F710
This might be what the OP is looking for.
