That is normal.
If it lasts for a long period w/ high cpu usage, your disk most likely is having issues.
Reboot into Safe Mode w/ Command Prompt and run:
CHKDSK /F /R
and then
SFC /SCANNOW

When you are ready to reboot, press CTRL+ALT+DEL and do it from there.

The folder awesomium should be your first clue. I don't know if it's a malicious software, but I'm guessing you need to figure out why you have it.

mssvc.exe could be anything really. Apps designed for your HDD or SSD typically will use that.

If you suspect malicious intrusion/infection; Install well-known scanners, update them, then reboot in Safe Mode and run full scans.

More than likely it was a malware software. If you would've checked with GPU Temp, you would've noticed that your graphic card was more intensely used than the CPU. Bitcoin mining really. This happened to me too. When I got my last PC setup I wanted it as silent as possible. So my PC is dead silent when in idle or when used lightly. A couple of days ago, I realized that it wasn't as silent as I remembered it. Went and opened GPU Temp and found out that my GPU (GTX970 mITX) was in load at ~85%. Opened task manager, and picked out the service that was taking up the most CPU. Found the folder and deleted it. All good since then.
Trust me, deleting that isn't going to harm your OS or anything at all.

i remember being told that awesomium is the parent program to chromium

I have the same problem. I found out it is a malicious software . It mainly uses GPU power. Virtual disk service manager.exe / mssvc.exe. I found it in C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia and deleted the whole folder.
It's used for mining bitcoins.

If something is malicious and in that folder, then a good scanner like ESET Free AV Scan or Malwarebytes should find it.

Otherwise that folder structure is all legit; as that is for Adobe Flash
