CyberpowerPC.
Just bought a new computer from Cyberpower and have heard a lot of bad things from them, wanted to know your experiences with them and any advice you might have. (Please don't say "refund it and build it yourself") My biggest fear is the power supply, it's a " 1,000 Watts - Standard 80 Plus Power Supply"

i7-6700k 4GHz
R9 390X 8GB
16GB RAM

Ive dealt with cyberpower and ibuypower multiple times in the past, never had an issue.

As for the Powersupply, it could be any brand they have in stock, you wont know if its a good brand or not until you get it.

But either way, 1000w is overkill for that system unless you plan on Crossfire later on.

If you went with the Liquid Cooler thats default on that build, it should be ok for that CPU, but all in all its low quality so if the temps shoot up in the next few months you'll know why.

The SSD is fine, but you'll have to get a data HDD sometime, 256GB wont last long depending on the games you plan on installing. Its worth it to have the HDD, works well for a backup and makes it so you wont have to reinstall games if you format the SSD at some point.

The problem with prebuilt computers is that they cut corners, charge too much, add bloatware, etc. It isn't an issue with a certain company really... just that you over pay for prebuilt computers and they typically cut too many corners.

That PC is fine, for the most part... but you did get overcharged a bit.

The GPU is a reference card... and it is AMD... this is not a good combination. Prepare for throttling. You should have chosen one from an AIB partner with a better cooler.

That power supply is super sketchy. I have my doubts that it even makes the cut for 80 Plus standards... especially when they are not even willing to list what it even is...

Personally I wouldn't buy a PC from anyone who doesnt cover return shipping in the event of the PC breaking during transit. EcollegePC has a guarantee, Cyberpower doesn't.

But in any case, if you still want to buy Cyberpower I would cancel the order and reorder with a name brand PSU such a Corsair RM or EVGA B2.

They dont add bloatware actually. they may customize the windows login, but they dont add bloatware.. and i had a family member use them last year.

i had to do some work on it so in this instance i do know what im talking about. There was No Bloatware, and the only thing that was added by them was the detailed PC info.

That power supply is a doomsday clock.
I'd recommend EVGA SuperNova. Here's a 750w one, it'll give you expansion room for future upgrades and has 80+ Gold efficiency. Plus, full modularity is a very nice thing to have when wiring everything up and trying to get some proper cable management done.

Again

They will add whatever PSU they have in stock that meets the PSU ordered, it depends on what they have in stock that would be 1000w's.

Lets wait to see which one he actually gets before we start making assumptions.

No assumptions here; just dropping some recommendations so he can turn to them if things go wrong. CyberPowerPC does have a rep for providing cheap, uncertified PSUs.

If he actually gets something half decent, he can ignore this.

Well unlike you and probably everyone thats posted on this thread so far, ive actually used them multiple times so i have experience with them and dont just rely on reviews.

As i said, the PSU he gets will depend on what they have in stock and is around the same price or a little more expensive.

We wont know what he gets until he gets it and tells us what it is.

I've not purchased from them and do not know how their business works...

...but I have fix many other their builds for people.

I've had some of them that had a decent PSU... but many have had these horrible brands like APEX or some de-branded China shop knock off that doesn't even make the lowest tier of the 80 Plus standard.

One quick horror story... I had one rig that I was fixing not long ago. It kept shutting down on the customer all the time. It had what was claimed to be a 750w power supply. It was solid black and only had a sticker for rail output. Solution seems simple, right? Well, he brings it in and it won't boot. No light on the mobo, case, nothing. I open it up... the PSU had exploded. Yes, exploded. Enough force to pop the top of the PSU open and severly damage the bottom of the mobo. All power connections were charred. Wire wraps melted and bubbled. It just looked like a massacre. The only thing that was able to be reused was the case and CPU, as everything else was done.

I mean, obviously the OP should wait until his order arrives. If it comes with a good PSU, then he has nothing to worry about.

Thanks for the reply, that's a little more reassuring, I've heard so many bad things about the company's PSU/Shipping/Liquid cooling. It comes with a 2TB SATA III Hard Drive.

Sorry for my ignorance but what's so bad about the GPU being a reference card and AMD? I looked up some benchmarks and the I7-6700K r9 390x 8gb blew me away.

Thanks for the advice, it's too late to cancel the order so I'll wait and see what comes with it and change it if need be.
