its also pretty hot where i live.
and get a quality 450+w power supply
There must be some simpler solution.
Now let me make this extremely clear: if you're running any gpu that is NOT a reference card, you effed up when u picked out your card. The x51 case is too small and air flow is too poor to have a custom pcb gpu. You're expelling hot air into the case and it has nowhere to go.
A reference card expels all hot air out of the back of the case, which is what you want. I shudder to think what your CPU temps are if your gpu is running at 90c. If your temps are at 90c, I'm betting you've got a custom pcb gpu with dual fans.
With a reference 970 and TIM replaced, I was keeping my gpu temps between 68-75 degrees in Witcher 3, which we all know hammers your gpu. But again, if you're not running a reference gpu with your x51...doesn't look good.
I got tired of all the noise and heat my x51 put out, along with being chained to a 330w psu and just did a traditional pc build and transplanted over what I could to my new case. Best decision I've ever made. Gpu temps stay at or below 60 degrees, and the fan doesn't have to run at 100% to keep temps in check.
- Prior to actually launching a game, manually change the GPU Fan % in MSI-AB to compensate for your heat.
- When done gaming and exit out of games, for normal OS usage go back to MSI-AB and put the fan back to AUTO.
- Done deal.
But hmm yea regardless; just Manually change your Fan %; it takes 2 secs, Boom, Done!
