Personally, I would do a clean install of windows on a new machine, you would have alsorts of issues with drivers.

That's a good point. I may be safer waiting till i get a 2nd hard drive i guess.

You can insall windows 8 on the new machine, it would just rename your current windows folder to windows.old. Why can't you format the drive?

I'm not sure what formating the drive means. I'm a little out of my dept when it comes to this.

To transfer across HDD's you will need clone softare or imaging software to take an image and reimage to the new drive.

ah so i can't just create a seperate partition on my Hard drive for Windows 8 and movie it to another hard drive in the future?

You could, but that would require you to "repartition" the drive.

Windows 10 came with the PC that i have at the moment and i was going to buy a Windows 8 key for my new PC. I ended up buying a 2nd hard drive in the end anyway since i figured i would be buying one at somestage.

haha. It's going to be basically a desktop when i sell it so i'm not sure how many of the general public are looking out for a Linux OS ;)

Mint is very like Windows 7. Sell it as Hardware, not software included. How do they know you didn't use it as Linux all the time. If they want Windows, they can download it from Microsoft's website and purchase it from there. Or, you can just put on the TRIAL version free and let them buy it from within Windows 10 App store.

Not many people want Windows 8, so you are wasting your money. You're just giving them something free to upgrade to Windows 10.
