Windows 10 and Nvidia Optimus issues
Hi all,
Yesterday I updated Windows 7 to 10 on my ASUS K53SV, but as soon as I did it I experienced an old issue with NVIDIA Optimus, as Source games and many others (like Penumbra, Amnesia, FEAR) don't recognize my NVIDIA GPU (I also experienced the problem on Windows 7 four years ago, but I managed it to fix it by installing the 301.24 driver). I must say first that after installing Windows 10, I promptly deleted the old NVIDIA driver from my computer and installed the newest 361.75.

After facing the problem, I've made some vain attempts to solve it: I reinstalled the driver various times and roll back to previous drivers, and I also went to NVIDIA Control Panel to set the dedicated GPU as default, as you can see here (sorry for the Italian):

However, the problem still persists. If I open the console in Portal 2, it gives me this:

I've read that other people faced the same issue installing Windows 10, but so far I haven't found a solution. Do you think is it an OS problem? Any suggestion or help?
Thanks in advance.

try uninstall intel HD driver DL via Windows Update and install driver from Intel

I never met a successful update of the old laptop with W7 to W10 - the problem of lack of drivers for W10

Already done but it didn't solve nothing. In fact I don't know if it depends on the Intel vga

in console you can see, that game can't detect nvidia, and used intel hd that not support most features
it's related to problem with drivers: Intel HD, Intel Power Management Framework, NVidia Optimus, ACPI drivers, Ambient Light System, etc. support
you cant test it with some linux live cd|usb, for example:if linux mint when you boot and switch to verbose mode (by press Tab) show error when testing ACPI it mean that BIOS and drivers have problem (or manufacturer has built-in "white lists", that limiting the use of specific hardware components and operating systems... its main problem of W10, if you do not pay attention to the complete absence of even a hint of respect privacy and low optimization, and for non-English users also terrible quality of localization
