best to disable it and turn the pc off when not in use
Yeah i've been doing that instead of sleep but the issue still keeps happening it really sucks. I'm wondering if it's hardware related or something to do with Windows 10. I mean the gfx and cables have already been replaced and I don't see what else it could possibly be.
do not depend on microsoft having the correct drivers
ms takes a good guess but often gets things wrong, and mfgs rarely give ms the latest drivers
Yeah done all that I do have a theory as to what it could be though. Since one of the monitors is connected via HDMI and the other via DisplayPort it could be possible that the computer is getting confused at startup and only defaulting to the HDMI. I am going to buy a HDMI to DisplayPort adapter to test if the computer works better with having two DisplayPort inputs rather than one HDMI and the other DisplayPort as inputs.
I unplugged the tv and just had the monitor plugged in and the issue didn't occur at all the startup screen came up on the monitor just fine. So it seems to get confused when both are plugged in.
So far, sometimes restarting helps, waiting for ages sometimes works, changing from duplicate to extend to single monitor sometimes works. I usually just loop those until my monitor turns on.
The culprit monitor is a 4k display port monitor which feels like it might have something to do with the issue...

I'll reply to this if I ever figure it out too
drivers are updated/tried rolling them back too
ty friendly peeps
Poor quality/faulty cables can sometimes cause these problems with newer hardware
ASUS and IIyama monitors. displayport-HDMI cable.
Randomly, on resume from sleep (and sometimes on reboot), whichever monitor was plugged to displayport would fail to start up (totally blank) and the other two monitors would be the only ones available.
Impossible to activate the "dead" monitor without unplug/replug behind the computer at which point all is well until the next sleep/reboot (randomly)
Note the cable is supposedly 4K capable.
However all the monitors are 1080p.
Bought new cable. Problem solved instantly.
Hope this helps convince someone else out there to get a new cable or at least do some testing by swapping cables around.
One thing I did with my two monitors. No idea if it helped. Attach the new display port monitor. Remove the hdmi cable from the video card. Just turning off the hdmi monitor or detaching the cable from the monitor is not enough. Get everything in Windows set up to run with that one monitor. Run all the programs. Then attach the hdmi cable. Then set up Windows for two monitors. Be sure to select the display port as the default monitor.
