For now, as a means of trouble-shooting, just try ONLY the DP-to-HDMI adapter/cable from TV to GTX 960 and see if that is actually working or not. If no display appears. Please allow the HDD LED on your case to stop, as the OS will most likely still be loading, regarding of lack of display picture signal. So you want to wait til after the OS loads to power off. When u go to power off, simply press the power button (not hold down) on your Case, which should trigger WinOS to do the Shutdown method properly.
Following your instructions, my TV still shows a "no signal" message like usual and for any empty/unused input, and it had no response or changes.
Nvidia's control panel dont show the secondary monitor either (not that it did before).
are you usign any adapters, dp-hdmi and hdmi-vga ect..
To clarify, Im using the DP port on the GTX 960, and HDMI input on the TV, wich is why I need the adapter so I can use HDMI directly on my main monitor (wich does not detect the HDMI signal from the DP-HDMI) and DP-HDMI on the TV.
And since this is the second adapter I got, I doubt it could be the adapter itself...but both cables were fro mthe same manufacturer.
Just to discard any possible cable issue and focuse on the card.
Why can't u just use HDMI-to-HDMI?
DisplayPort is nice but it really is designed more for when u need to do 120/144Hz
HDMI on newer GPUs allow upwards of 2160p @ 60Hz, so HDMI shouldn't be an issue really for 24-75Hz depending on the Display specs.
I can only assume either you do not have a solid connection (full-sized DP cable ends have a clip-button-based-lock on them for secure connection) or that your adapter (or cables) is faulty.
If you need to do 2x Displays; try doing 1x DVI-D and 1x HDMI
I never had a problem using DP myself; but I always use Displays that actually have a DP port, as well as DP-to-DP cables (GPU to Display; no adapters, period)
My DP cable does indeed have something that resembles a button, now that you mention it.
I have never seen a DVI-D cable before, and for me to work, I would require it to be DVI-D to HDMI or PC; because my T.V. have inputs for both.
List your GPU and all it's available ports.
List all your Displays and all the ports (per display) that those support.
This would help us help u greatly.
Ports: Dual Link DVI-I, HDMI 2.0, 3x DisplayPort 1.2
Monitor: HDMI, PC
TV: 2x HDMI, PC
I had checked and he HDMI port works for the tv and monitor, so far only the DP dosnt work whenever I try, the PC port works for both but I cant use it because it would be using the integrated card on the processor, not the nvidia graphics.
These are "ports"
VGA (aka D-Sub)
DVI
HDMI
DisplayPort (aka DP)
Masuo15 u can hookup a 2nd screen to the Intel HD GPU's HDMI (Motherboard I/O) for use as a 2nd screen if u not intending to use that 2nd screen to display games.
By deal gaming I meant like "playing the same game o ntwo monitors, to make two monitors into one big view", thats not what I want to do, just keep playing on one OR the other, depending if I use a keyboard or a controller.
The DP did not work so far, with 2 diferente cables being DP to HDMI. Tahts the issue I have but Im not sure if were both cables or not, but using a DVI to HDMI is worth a shoot.
And yes, the port was VGA, I couldn't remember it.
