When running games my computer will randomly restarts
Its as if someone has held the power button down and pressed it again to restart it.
I do not get any lag or error messages prior to it restarting and it has only happened when in a game.

Any help is greately appreciated :)

what is your system specs?
It's probably either getting too hot or your power supply is starting to go. Step 1, open up the case and clean out any dust. If you have dust filters on the case, check those too.

its a brand new pc, just built it like a week ago so theres no dust and all coponents are brand new.

Processor: Intel Core i5-4690k CPU @ 3.5GHz
Ram: HyperX 8gb
Operating System:Windows 7 64-bit
Motherboard: H81I (MS-7851)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
PSU: ATX CORSAIR CX600 (600W)
HDD: SEAGATE 1TB
have you ever monitored your temps?

I have, when playing high intensity games it only seems to get as high as 65c

gpu cpu and mobo temps are all around that temp?

Have only tested GPU + CPU. they never seem to go higher than 65c

its mini itx so what would you recommend?
also is there no chance this is a system issue, as when i was on windows 10 it happened a bit but when i reverted back to windows 7 i had no issues for a few days
Check the Windows Logs via Event Viewer. By default WinOS is setup to auto-reboot when a BSoD occurs, and thus u are not seeing the errors stay up on-screen when occurring. This should be helpful and allow u an understand of a practical solution or better means of trouble-shooting.

Power On again usually can happen also because most Motherboard BIOS are defaulted to Power-On/Resume-Power in the event of power failures.

These are two key features to disable.
- BIOS > Event of power loss = Power Stay Off
- WinOS > Auto-Restart = Disable

this might be a good one although i use a atx mobo but im happy with my gigabyte board

I have checked Event Viewer the only logs I see at the time of it crashing are the following:

Critical
The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Three possible causes:

1: PSU Power is too low for your system
2: VRM power limit exceeded (low end board, high end CPU)
3: Overheating component

Post a CPU-Z (www.cpuid.com) Validation Dump like this: http://valid.x86.fr/86w7x6
and other specs that aren't listed.

Use HWMonitor or similar software to monitor temperature and voltage.
If the 12V line drops under 11.6V chances are your PSU is not enough for your system.
If any component exceeds it's thermal limits overheating is likely.
U should not be using unlocked CPUs with H81
And they might be higher TDP than these Boards/Chipsets allow for.
Even for ITX, I would suggest nothing less than Z97 for that CPU, whether u are OC'ing or not.

Since the system has stability issues at the present time, go or a known-working machine, plug in a USB flash drive and download & extract the latest BIOS version for this troubled board:

https://www.msi.com/product/motherboard/support/H81I.html#down-bios

Then u can plug in the USB drive to this H81 board, boot up, go to BIOS, update BIOS version/ROM via USB drive. Make sure you extract the files from the download, to the root of the USB flash drive (no custom folders)

Also, what CPU cooler are you using and what case?
