You really have to be sceptical of off the cuff blanket answers and look into the type of games you're interested in.
Tbh get a 3700x if you don't want to have to replace that down the not so distant future.
Some games now have began saturating 6 core CPUs so do your research.
1080p 144hz will need a faster cpu
4k+ 60hz will need a faster gpu
kinda demanding, but most have 2-3 fans
Mine only fires up to 62c ish I've never seen it near 70c not even in summer, at only 150w they run cool as they should.
Maybe you're mixing up the gtx1070ti, 1080 and 1080ti sucking up 180w+
Modern titles would nice, at least 60 to 90 fps on Max settings. I can lower down to Medium settings If I have too.
Is the i3 9100f a good pair? 80$, doesnt seem that bad? Is their a Ryzen CPU that VS the i3 9100f?
Or, if you wait, the Ryzen 3 3100 (4 cores and 8 threads) will be out sometime for 99$. Why you should care is because the 3100 and 3300X can actually overclock unlike other Ryzen CPUs because how AMD designed those 2 chips, so an overclocked 3100 absolutely destroys the 9100F.
Since the i3 9100f is a LGA 1151, does that mean any LGA 1151 MOBO would work? Or is it not work on older MOBO?
9100F requires a chipset compatible with 9th gen; B365, H370, Z390 (Boards working with 8th gen like b360, h310, z370 will work after a BIOS update)
Intel: MOBO are Limited to a Generation?
If so, AMD sounds better.
A320, B350/450/550, and X370/470/570 all support Ryzen 1000, 2000, and 3000, but only B550 and X570 will support the upcoming Ryzen 4000 CPUs.
However, the only chipsets worth buying are B450 (if you don't care about Ryzen 4000 compatibility), B550, and X570.
