Thoughts on razer synapse 3?

I just got a new keyboard which is the razer blackwidow elite and suppose I have to install synapse 3 in order to configure the keyboard. Just wondering how is the synapse 3 treating you guys? Considering it’s still on beta and I saw that it takes up to 6-7 background processes which is kinda weird since synapse 2 only had 2-3 background processes and consumed at max 35mb memory.

Main point is that I’m afraid that the synapse 3 will be a resource hog so I need some opinions on how’s it running on it’s current state. Thanks

I've only just recently started using Synapse 3 with my Basilisk V2, and have had no issues so far, but I haven't really messed with things like changing keybinds or macros, or even Chroma studio, I just set my RGB in it and minimized it.

It hasn't crashed or anything yet, and it's performance when minimized isn't worse than my other gaming software (Logitech G-Hub w/ my keyboard). I'd say Synapse 3 is OK.

Recently, Razer has finally listened to all the hate regarding their software and they are making big strides to make new products not require keeping the software installed....wait, I said big strides didn't I? No, actually they are just YEARS behind everyone else and finally put onboard memory on their new mice. IDK about that keyboard but the new viper mice and the new v2 lines of deathadders and basilisk have it as well. So you can just install the software, set everything how you like and then uninstall it. That all depends on whether your keyboard has onboard memory. But in my opinion I've never really had any problems with synapse. Compared to many other softwares it runs really well and seems easy to use to me. I just always set it to not auto start when I boot my system and when I close it out i set it to actually exit the software and not just minimize to the task bar. Seems to help with the background processes. Just don't download the whole synapse suite of software that it tries to get you to install during the installation process. Uncheck every box except for the synapse software...which should have a box checked that you can't uncheck actually. Don't use the stupid razer cortex or choma studio ♥♥♥♥. But if your keyboard is a newly released one then you should be able to just set up your settings how you like and make sure you save it to onboard and uninstall software and you'll be gucci.

Thanks for the response dude. Tbh I just downloaded synapse 3 earlier because of my new keyboard and as soon as I saw that it's running 7 processes on the background then I immediately uninstalled it lol and went back to synapse 2 which only run 3 background processes and 25-35mb or memory.

How to I save it to it's onboard memory? I did set a static color configuration but as soon as I uninstalled it the keyboard went back to it's default color configuration which is the spectrum lighting lol

Can't be worse on resources than Corsair iCUE. But it really won't make an impact unless you're the type that get obsessed over every single frame per second.

From what I've read it saves keybinds and macros to the internal memory, I don't think the RGB stuff is in the onboard profiles.

I just checked the RAM usage on mine. Previously I only checked CPU usage. There's about 5 Razer processes, Each uses between 15-35 MB, and overall my total RAM usage is about 28% (out of 16GB) with 11 GB remaining unused.

It looks like it takes more than I should from the ram memory dont you think?

hey btw do you need to have icue running to keep your custom case fans rgb profile?

Corsair products that have properly working storage inside specifically for profile data don't need to have iCUE running, but there isn't very many of those, and I'm pretty sure case fans are not one of them

It's terrible, I shouldn't have to run separate software to get basic functions like DPI switching from my mouse.

I know razers audio plug in to make the lights go to the beat of the music sometimes wants to have a loud screech after it gets done with a song and it don't support my razer kraken v2 headset so i will have to have v2 installed just for my headset.

My point is what if I closed the iCue software? Will my case rgb fans reset the colour to it’s default or will it keep the rgb configuration?

If there's no on-board profile on any Corsair product, the ones without the on-board profile storage will revert to whatever the default is, usually RGB puke
