edit: and with the comments below, you can see what i meant.
**no dedicated gpu
**only 8gb of ram in an era, no laptop should be sold without 32gb
but than again skyrim and oblivion are decade old games.
even so.. you likely will want a laptop with at least a dedicated gpu..
that embedded cpu has only halve the grafic power of an gtx 1050.. if even that.
that means at 1080p it likely gets 20-25fps at best.
which I would not call considerable nice
ofcourse the older the games the less that is an issue
something like an 3050 or 1650 build in.. will likely run skyrim much smoother.
you don't need a massively powerfull gpu to get 60fps in skyrim.. but you do want something more than embedded gpu.
No NVIDIA GPU = Don't buy it. Waste of your time and money.
That's just very basic for school/media.
Laptops for Gaming, even under $1000 should have RTX 3070 / 4060, and at least 16GB RAM and at least 1x 1TB SSD
Can get ones with 15 inch 144Hz Display
12th Gen i5 + 16GB DDR5 + RTX 4060
for around $699
That's why I support Framework and Sager. Pretty pricy, but an easily-replaceable battery alone makes it worth it.
Also, touchscreens are pretty useless unless it's a 2 in 1 convertible.
extreme budget:

$382 - ryzen 5 5500u / 8g ram / 256g ssd / 14" FHD

$479 - ryzen 5 5500u / 16g ram / 1tb ssd / 15.6" FHD
mid-range:

$585 - i5-11400H, RTX 3050, 16G RAM, 512G SSD

$798 - i5-12500H | RTX 3050 Ti | 15.6" FHD 144Hz IPS | 16GB DDR4 | 512GB Gen 4 SSD
I am still using my old i5-8400H / 1050ti / 16g ram / 128g ssd + 1Tb hdd for very similar use, still going strong just needed a new fan + battery...
i found my old 17.4 inch laptop in 2008 already to small.
not minded its 4.5 kg could easely have lived with 8-10kg if that boosted its size.
15 inch is baby screen.. gaming laptops wouldbe 8cm thick to haver the proper cooling amd battery to handle things likrly with double removable batteries.. and be 6-9 kg heavy.
and 21 or 23 inch in size..
why no conpagny makes gamimg laptops like that anymore.. is stupid.
i much rather have an 8kg 8cm thick 23 imch laptop to properly game on.
than rhose 12mm thinbooks with idiotioc 15"screens that are smaller than i gamed on in freaking 1986..
15 inch has no right to be called "gaming laptop" who is going to game on such a small screen?
Everything about a Laptop is all about On-The-Go.
You are always free to hookup external keyboard, mouse, game controller, display(s)
It be rather ridiculous to have Laptops larger then 17 or 18 inches
IMHO, who the hell games on the screen the Laptop comes with? Very very rarely do I do that. Why? Because I hook up to external everything; screen, keyboard, mouse, game controller; etc. It makes perfect sense to do that.

it will play tekken 7, warthunder, stuff like that on low
cost $150-175 used on ebay
win 11 runs fine on older hardware.
Yes it does. Due to.new EU laws that Microsoft was forced to abide with with Win11 23H2 and later. It doesn't work on Win10 though but if you need a clean install of that, it's not that hard to disable stuff.
Once Win11 is installed do all the Windows Updates and Microsoft Store app library updates first. Reboot when done, then install web browser of choice and make it default, then uninstall things like Edge and OneDrive. Once the bloatware is Uninstalled and you've rebooted again, then change Country and TimeZone to what you really want it to be.
