lol, looks like OP sucks at 6 year old calculus too
edit: It looks like someone was making up Bulls___ and deleted everything, lol.
...but you'll cry about it anyways, just like the babies that did over every previous version of Windows.
My favorite part here is where you assume people running a 14 year old OS share the same habits as you and are spending hundreds of dollars per year. Perhaps you need a bit more than sample size of one.
Also you might consider Valve has much visibility into Windows 7 users than you do.
And as I predicted earlier this year Windows 7 users have dropped quite a lot, and that's been ramping up as the deadline gets closer. At the moment it's much less than 1%, by the time the January hardware survey comes out it'll be close 0.5% or less. That's 0.5% of the lowest value users on Steam.
No one's forcing you to use Steam. And none of the rules, or conditions, including end of support for OS'es is new or a secret...
Upgrades and updates have been a core part of PC gaming for decades. Pretending like games are perishable goods because you're not going to upgrade, or didn't plan ahead is rank hyperbole.
Regardless eventually you'll be using a new PC with a new OS, and somehow those perished goods will rise from their graves... and maybe that will soothe your angst.
