It was likely costing them too much.
i own a freakinf ufo.. not a potaro.
128gb ram 2080ti.. 1600 euro cpu..
whole system waswell over 7000 euro
and to build something with equal performance today still will cost 3500 euro.
i can run win 10 fine.
i can run win 11 fine.
i paid good money to stick with windows 7 prefered paying 300 euro to obtain win 7 over spenfing 10 euro on win 10.. put in much work to prevent it from upsaring to win 10.
i really hate win 10 and not want it.
thats not the issue
the issue is : not all my games will run on win 10
and those that do wont run on windows 12 or 13 when steam deciedes to drop ein 1p or 11 support too..
you are are an idiot if you dont see that and still buy games with steam.
this involves ALL even those on win 10 or 11.
steam is not the saviour of pc gaming it is the arch enemy! steam must go bankrupt! users must stop funding corps with practices like this.
I for one wont be handing them anything anymore.
no they just greedt bastards.
they are billionaira yet use chrome embedded for steam.
chrome drips?win 7 suppprt and steam just to lazy to do anything about it.
they could have easel6 hired a fed devs to creste a non embedded version pf steam.
they could create some wsy to download .iso on a win 10 system that you than can install and run on an win 7 sysyem in offline mode
i can think of at least 10 other ways how with a bit of programming time win 7 users
they choose not too.
thart shows steam has 0 respobsibility to keep retro gaming alove and pisses on users like me who have spends thousanda with them..
its ofcourse cheaper to do nothing and just blame chrome.
but a billion dollar conpagny should not rely on embedded services of another party. they should build their own shell.
and such corps usually only start lisening when it hurts their bottomline.. well than thats what we have to do.
1 old cdrom before stream drm was addes to them
2 pirated copies
(was steams motto not once to be cheaper and easier that piracy)
3 gog : no drm means you can install straight from the iso you downloaded.
Also, reasonably sure that the vast majority of those Win7 accounts will move on to 10/11 at some point. I'm sure Valve will be absolutely devastated by the lack of your few hundred bucks a year though.
You don't see a lot of action like this in the course of some years because it's such a final step. Chromium is open source, mind you. Pls. do not confuse it with Google/Chrome browser which seems more deserving of your vitriol.
I mean look at YouTube: yammering for subs and blocking videos unless you pay up (or get a content blocker that can handle that nasty script and others). If they could get away w/murder for an extra dollar--cough,cough....
i bought fysical pc games they not said they needed steam to install.
they neefed steam drm anyway
law here ststes eula with games is valid steam ignores our law has even stated sue me.. an attitude unheared of by compagnies in my country who if you state the law will usually comply.
finally as there litterly was due steam no other way to obtain new games.. fysixal storwswere killed off by steam and no other stores excisted at the tiime..
monopoly...
while i worried bout the what if steam ever goes babkrupt (not even cobsidered deopping support for an os) I always presumed if that ever happened steam would provide us with some fix to keep installing and playing what we bought even after thet were gone...
this pointless drop of win 7 showed they wont... and that all gameson their site are perishable... and pointlrss to buy..
they now showed their true dirty colours..
i always hated their attitidebut this is one line i truelly not expected them to cross..
Valve shouldn't be worried about anything cause if you are a Win7/8 user, you obviously don't spend any money on Steam for anything that actually equates to serious revenue
moving to win 10 to keep acces to some of what i paid for.. very likely.
but paying for that win 10 copy.. or spending another cent in the steam store? never!
600 euro per year.. is way more than average steam user spends
serious revenue i'd say.
it is looked it up 8.5 billion usd on 120 million users.
or about 50 usd per user per year.. with nesrly 5k euro spend on this accound 3k of it last 5 years.. i am clearly welll above the average custoner in spending.
and they now will lose that.. lets hope they loose a lot more of thar.. so they hopefully learn one day.
i get sick on the theme that win users are all pisspoor people on potato pc who not know or can use win 10. i use win 10 at work (causr i have to sadly) i can program code in multiple lamgueas..
many of us geeks just really hate on win 10 amd 11 sone went linix others stuck to win 7.
