Save Win 98 or We sue Valve

I have been running windows 98 like many for 10+ years and have a massive catalog of games that listed support for windows 98 at the time of purchase. If you as a platform choose to Brick my steam install and prevent me from ever playing my games again you can expect another class action lawsuit demanding entire account based refunds. but hey maybe that will be cheaper than maintaining a legacy version of your product you've build a monopoly out of.

PSA: Anyone who thinks Windows 98 is actually dead just go head on over to the Win-raid forums before claiming my argument is invalid. Plenty of people been doing gods work maintaining the OS for modern hardware and plenty of die hard users.

EDIT: Valve Also Still advertises games that put Windows 98 in the specs to run the game, If you want to benefit from the marketing of Windows 98 in 2023 u cannot also discontinue it the same year. That's the same reason why warranties exist otherwise company's would make their products less durable to die well within a year. So I don't care what the TOS says no one can be realistically expected to read it all anyways and a court could totally side against valve on this.

I don't think threatening to sue Valve is going to do much when their E.U.L.A. probably had them covered for this and it's pretty industry standard to drop support for older systems. This really needs to be pushed as a feature request rather than a demand. Valve likes its customer base, I think? Just having some modified version of the old client available for download that acts as a game launcher only would likely suffice.

Though for Windows 98 games, would there even be any D.R.M. that prevents you from installing the game on a modern system and sideloading it onto your old one?

First, Steam only officially supports Windows 10 now and second, upgrading probably isn't even the point 'cause who uses Windows 98 as their daily driver O.S. anymore? I think most people who have such old systems are using them for periodically correct play.
