(Answered) Internal Drive and External Enclosure for Gaming
I’m trying to find a good drive and enclosure to keep games on, but I think I’m in over my head. I’m looking for 2-4TB and I really don’t wanna break the bank. If anyone has specific recommendations that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Edit: I just found an NVMe 2TB on amazon for 98, so I might spend a bit more on that + an enclosure if the performance is significantly better

Here’s the link to it

for that you would also need an enclosure has an M.2 connection and supports NVMe to USB. Those enclosures are usually about $20 - $35 or more; which is why I suggested the WD/SanDisk drives I noted.

If you have USB-C on your system then you very likely also have at least a couple USB-A Gen3 ports as well. When you get back to your computer if you want to install CPUz and run the validator; and then post the link to the result here that should have all of the details for people to better help you.
Weirdly enough I have a USB-C port but no USB-A 3.0. I think I'll go with the Crucial NVMe and an external enclosure. It should work out to be a bit cheaper than the Sandisk, and having access to the drive itself is a plus. Thank you for the help!

Do you have a Desktop or Laptop?

If Desktop, what model of Motherboard?

If Laptop, what model of Laptop?

for an internal drive, sata ssds are cheaper than usual and are still decent for modern games, QLC is even cheaper but keep in mind that it runs out of cache if you fill it up and speeds will drop dramatically

I'm about to get more SSDs to replace my aging Canvios (Toshiba) and Buffalo.
Internal to external SATA hot-swap...
