RGB software problems
RGB software controllers are still having problems with cheat detectors? Cases like the NZXT Cam software or Armoury Crate

OpenRGB should be fine and covers a large portion of popular RGB products. Covers a lot of stuff from both NZXT and most modern products from ASUS.

The question is whether it detects them as cheats, since they are only led light programs.

Idk, I run Armory create, Corsair Icue, Gskill bull crap since Armory create is trash, and I run RGB software for my Redragon keyboard, not issues with the games I play that have Anti Cheats.

who knows, i use "aura sync" and i dont think anything has happened with it... though its fair to mention, that i did have one time (dont remember how many years ago it was, maybe 3..) EAC false ban me, in a false ban wave on rust, i woke up and found the ban message, 8 hours later it got removed (i did contact the devs in discord, didnt bother with EAC), but i never got an explanation of why, or an apology, so i have zero clue.

some anticheats disable software on your pc, or will kick you and tell you to turn off such and such, its ridiculous... i remember long after i quit playing pubg (cause of the rampant cheating, voice coms of asian phishing scams in their language and forum filled with 24/7 bot phishing scams in their language and not in (broken english) their language, some time after that, the game/anticheat was updated and shutting off peoples fan software, lighting software and whatever else said anticheat deemed not allowed during play...

that being said, while cheating is rampant and horrible behavior, they still havent put a dent in it and moving in a direction that hurts everyone, more so legit players, than it does cheaters.

but then again, majority of cheating happens in games that have skins that you can sell, trade, or in the circumstances of cheaters, phishing, scams here on steam, they want your account, your skins and money, then they use it and sell it off, until the owner finds out and uses steam support, or the account starts receiving bans and no one buys it anymore.

Yeah I got a program called Sizer, resizes windows to a size I want, used it for years, and EAC throws a fit about that one and yells at me to turn it off, never got banned or kicked, it just throws fit if I forget.

The issue is not the software in general, but does it provide a 3D hardware accelerated in-game Overlay ?

Many games and/or anti-cheats can detect those and assume they are being used to to overlay something on-top of the game; such as Aim-bot, See through game world map / walls; etc.

Is it safe? I heard it bricks hardware. And how about SignalRGB?

I use Armoury Crate and so far so good, no problem with anti cheats, but if you say it can happen... Who knows.
