i7 13700k or i7 14700k ?
If you had to pick between the two to get with i7 13700k being cheaper and being able to get today which one would you pick ?

Already have motherboard, ram, and everything.

If you need to know the rest of the specs I will post them.

Difference in price is $50.

14th gen will probably be the highest we can go with this socket and/or chipset generation (because 15th gen will probably bring new AI hardware) and it has APO, which makes the E-cores much more viable for performance at the cost of power consumption, it's best to go for 14th gen by default unless there's a monumental price difference between the 13th gen counterpart that supersedes whatever performance benefit APO can give.

14700K, 50 dollars should be basically nothing when you're going for this class of hardware

Yes it does, I don't know where you got that information but it's dead wrong. It's an LGA1700 CPU and works on even Z690 boards with updated BIOS.

The i9s are also insanely excessive, there's no real reason to go above the i7 anymore. It's just enthusiast hardware at this point. You're paying a hefty premium for minor gains.

the 13900k is very relevant if your running 1440res and wanting to run high fps.and
continue runnig for years with a 4090.

Doesn't have APO support though and the 13900K costs more but gives slightly worse gaming performance and that's without APO or overclocking. There's no reason to buy the i9, better off with the 14700K or even a 7800X3D for gaming, the i9s aren't really "gaming" CPUs anymore, the core counts are more suited to productivity where the i7 isn't enough, just the same as Ryzen 9. Mostly pointless enthusiast grade CPUs.

Actually 14th Gen uses the same socket and chipset as 13th Gen. My motherboard is actually "certified" for 14th Gen processors as of the latest BIOS, but I suspect something would burn out if I tried since it is a bit flaky at this time.

How is a 20 core i7 not enough? :steamfacepalm: I have half that with my 10th gen i9 and it's still enough, and I've ran multiple apps in the background and chromium browsers at the same time as games.

At this point you're just arguing because you want your point to be right, but you're not. Most reviewers echo the point that there's no real point in buying the i9, especially in this instance where the i7 has more than enough cores for 99.9% of users, performs better in games, and costs less.

Go with the 13th Gen i9 since it sounds like you want a good work-horse. Unless you can afford 14th Gen i9

Do not get a KS or KF just get the K.
The K still has an Intel GPU which can come in handy.

13th Gen i7 or higher you're going to need one heck of a beefy cooler.

I'd look at getting a decent 1000W PSU as well.
