I think I've gotten that and like a restart ended up fixing it. But if you're already tried that over and over obviously mine was different.
Restart the PC.

Disable Hibernation via CMD (Run As Admin)
and then type in: POWERCFG -H OFF
Press Enter key. Then Restart to apply the change.

Open Windows File Explorer. Navigate to:
C Drive > Windows > SoftwareDistribution > Downloads

Delete the contents in the Downloads folder.

Run Disk Cleanup (Run As Admin)
Check all boxes and click OK to wipe out.

Restart Windows and do Check for Updates again.

You are not alone, OP. There were several of us already observing this earlier. We're not touching it. It seems to be related to the recovery partition and we're not messing with that. We'll wait until Microsoft addresses it. One person was successfully able to install it but I have not yet been able to.

We'll keep trying and looking for updates on this update.
This is why I pause WU for 1 month until the previous months issues are sorted out.

Good ideas but doesn't work. I even tried this-plus manually restarting, even though it's been done 7 times already.

This update is related to the Windows Recovery Environment, the download itself would be unaffected. There would have been a partition marker in C;\ drive with a time stamp of today if this had successful.

It's on Microsoft's, I'm not touching it. Could ruin your drive if you mess with the Recovery partition yourself.
People actually setup their OS drive with those extra partitions? Jeesh.
Apparently you don't HAVE to have them (there are normally 2 tiny ones). And in this case, I'm wondering if having that WinRE one is the cause. It's speculation of course. But again, it's on Microsoft and fortunately for that, the update failed to install altogether so nothing got corrupted in the process. Let the creator of this mess deal with it, not us.

If you don't have your recovery partition installed on your drive, it would be a treat to see if KB5034441 installs on your computer. @anyone willing to take a chance.
I never let WinOS put those extra partitions on my drive during OS install. Been doing it with single partition ever since started using SSDs and Win7 many years ago when Win7 SP1 was new. You can just partition the drive before installing OS on it to avoid the OS installer making those extra partitions
Lenovo actually posted a "fix" online in the form of a PSA. I consider this too risky, esp. for someone who hasn't done anything in Disk Management before. So, you can search it if you want--it involves shrinking your OS partition and creating a whole new WinRE. Microsoft, you in big trouble. :steamhappy:

I checked on the Feedback Hub--several posts on it but no official word on any of them, just the "We got this" acknowledgement. Let's see what happens tomorrow.
