I had one of those Alienware M14 things back in the day and it got all the way up to 97 C. Other than the fact it's horribly outdated now it still works so no worries.

I don't know what you expect from a laptop. It comes with all its limitations. And the thinner they are the less air flow you will get.
Check Tjmax and see how close you get.

85 degrees is normal for a laptop CPU, they're normally rated for at least 100 before they throttle, sometimes even higher.

sadly laptops are build badly today.

laptops used to be heavier, thicker with larger screens and bigger removable batteries.

this allowed true mobile gaming and proper cooling.
some even had renovable grafic cards and two hot swappable batteries.. and most had optical drives.

nowdays the industry has gone insane.
all they make is thinbooks without room to add anything.
all must be under 1.5kg and thinner than 15mm.

that those idiotic demands have dropped the battery life down from 5 hours to 30 minutes ar best.
and means that battery replacements have become far more costly.
-is of no concern to frappuchino drinking lip pounching multi media students that seem todays only target audience for laptops.

that it also has reduced the screen to the size they were in the 80s when we used to have 19 and 21 imch laptops screens when our pcs still obly usef 23 wnf 25 inch.. is also np concern to them

but when you are a gamer it is!

and the worst issue "gaming laptops" without proper coolling are the norm. you now need cooling pads to place under gaming laptops or they could burn trough so hot they get.
**
it would make much more sense just add proper cooling to the laptop itself but that would add a kg of metal and 8mm of thickness...and somehow that is a thing manifavturers loose their jizzover these days..

what we should have is what we got with pc.
modulair laptops.

standardised motherboard format for laptops.

cases sold seperately in mant different sizes. with screens dold seperately s just slide one in.

but that would go against planned obsolesance..

For Laptops this is normal when running demanding games or benchmarks. As long as it doesn't go above approx 91-95*C You should be fine
