"new pc" and 16gigs of ram are mutually exclusive things in 2024

I know of no current game that uses (unmodded, out of the box) close to 32GB. But since RAM isn't prohibitively expensive right now I would get 32GB for future-proofing.

32GB on the other hand is a bit too low now if you do other things than gaming, like editing videos or modeling/rendering.

Star citizen can use like 25-27gb quite easily. Minecraft on higher settings can as well but that can obviously be turned down. I think I average like 18gb usage when I play games casually
When I had 16 gb ram, I got out of memory events if I didn't use swap.
16GB is the new minimum. But 32GB is recommended these days.

Who isn't modding on the PC platform more specifically steam? You know the platform which has a workshop with dozens of active modders and downloads. Maybe just get a console instead?
It's enough for most games

It takes A LOT of mods to get even close to using up 32 GB of RAM.

16 GB RAM will work fine for the majority of the games out there. The very few that demand more will still work with 16 GB RAM or might even adapt to it.
I've yet to find a game that uses up all of my 32 GB of RAM.

32GB of ram is fine for video editing and modeling.

I regularly max out the 128GB of my workstation while editing 8k footage or doing sims in Houdini.

Any amount of RAM is enough ever since Windows introduced virtual memory and can offload excess data to the hard drive. People who say things like "16 gB iS eNouGh" don't pay attention to stutter/fps drops in games. Heck rn i have nothing but Chrome and Steam(also Chrome) with a few tabs open and already am at 9GB used ram. To be clear, even the most demanding games will launch, by design, but playable is another matter entirely.

Side note, writing gigabytes of data to make space every time you launch a game isn't healthy for the SSD either, so if you are still on 16GB ram on a "gaming" rig, and not many people here are anyway, consider upgrading to 32GB asap.

Youtube things
You really shouldn't trust random clickbait youtube videos either. Especially with affiliate amazon links. Most of them are fake anyway.

So we have to trust your words instead 👍

Ideally you (singular you, you are not royalty i assume) should consider doing actual research and look at your needs to determine the amount of ram needed and not hurr durring youtube videos and search for a guy to "trust". Which for gaming is 32gb for a comfortable experience, as outlined before. But even 8GB is "fine" if you really wanted it make it work.

I don't think you quite understand how memory usage works. You use that much because you are using software that can use any available memory. If you have more, it will use more. If you have less, it will use less.

Most of the cases 16GB, but do you have dedicated GPU with enough VRAM?
The lowest settings in Unturned with a dedicated server Unturned has no problem reaching 16GB at all.
