How it feel like using 4 gb of ram in 2024

I remember windows vista with league of legend and war thunder both running at the same time while having 60tabs in firefox , 200 playlist in foobar2000 and was not even using 3gb neither without even satturating the system. But in 2024? 4gb is like a small app from MS store that runs like crap.

Just get a SSD and reinstall any OSes you want! 4GB ram are still usable in 2024.

4GB has been outdated for years, it's just barely enough to run Windows 10 but not much else, let alone play games

8GB is the bare minimum for light gaming, 16GB for modern gaming, 32GB is the new sweet spot in price/performance and ensuring there's almost always enough capacity when it comes to gaming.

I’m still running a rig with 4gb of ram, OpenSUSE tumbleweed with Gnome and 5-6 docker containers running and it uses 1.5gb ram. It works great. That’s all with a Celeron n3450 too.

It all slows down when I open Firefox though which seems to want to use 1-1.5gb. It’s still very usable but open up a few other windows, tabs or apps and you have to wait a few seconds for things to happen. Gedit takes 10s to open if Firefox is open!

The 2gb ram laptop is useless though and that’s with windows 8.

Maybe you had a high end cpu back ealier times, which is why possible ealier times.

I really think, its still possible today if Warthunder or League of legends doenst got a grahpics overhaull today.

So yeah, still working with gaming on 4gb ram

Some. Doesn't change the fact that it's insufficient for many modern use cases and there should be no reason to be running with a mere 4GB.

You can use bcdedit /increseuserva 3072 to increase it to 3GB, but also remember that much past 3GB of system RAM you hit hardware limits that Windows 32-bit can't surpass.
