Too Hot?
I just got a i9 14900k and use a AIO water cooler my temperatures are 37 C idle around and mainly 60 to 70 C when gaming on some games. Games that use the CPU more raise the temperature to max 78 C give or take.

78°C is normal.

70-78 is NOT even hot. Like wtf.

Back when we had some of the previous i7 years ago it was normal for those to hit 85-90 on high sustained loads.

Which liquid cooler?

Those temperatures are normal and frankly a bit cold for the latest Core i7s and i9s lmao

As long as it isn't reaching 100 degrees it's within normal operating temperature ranges

anything above 0 Kelvin is way too hot. 🥵Get yourself a physics breaking quantum cooler to get those temps back in control 😎

I had a i7-6950x they routinely hit 100C, and that was under an AIO with a push/pull setup pulling cool air direct from the front of the case. It could touch 101 briefly. It ever sat at 101 for a few seconds, it would shut down. Today's 70-80C highs are freezing in comparison.

35-40C while idle and 70-low 80s under load is normal.

60-70 is WAY too hot for a CPU and it might be possible, that you're destroying your CPU RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
I'm glad you've decided to start a thread instead of using Google for 5 seconds.

First things first.
Please remove the cooler from your CPU and attach the custom boxed cooler.
When you're ready, hit me up.

78c is not bad but more than i like M.B mfg apply to much voltage to the cpu
go into bios and set to 1.36 to 1.37 will drop temps about 10c ..game on !!!
unless of course someone already did in that case your fine.also run the pump
on the AIO at full speed wont hurt it 1 bit in fact IMO it prolongs the AIO
life span as its not ramping up and down.easier to keep something cool than to
cool it down.been running all mine at full for 10+ years.

maybe for a midrange cpu we are not dealing with your run of the mill cpu.
maybe you should try google ?

Intel processors are rated for up to 105c. As long as your processor is below 105c then you are perfectly fine and should not be concerned about temps. Even if your processor does hit 105c then it will just reduce speeds (run slower) and thermal throttle without taking damage.

Isn't the thermal throttle set at 100°C for a bit of headroom against damaging temperatures?

That's what Intel says on their documentation but in actual testing overclocking I have seen modern Intel processors go to 100c and not thermal throttle until hitting 105c.

your multicores switch to cooler ones if becoming too hot, so less than handful are always hotter

and 70 °C on load is perfectly fine..

If you think 78°C is hot try running Prime95 and you'll be bouncing off the throttle limiter. You should be able to reach a sustained wattage of 253W or even more if your cooler is sufficient.

i7/i9 and Ryzen 5/7/9 always run that high, or higher; always have.
That's under load mind you, which is all that matters.
That 30*C or less at idle is pointless non-sense.
