Gpu 3080 or 4080 question
Is a 3080 good gpu and how long till it needs to be updated to a newer gpu?

Also which 4080 gpu is good for gaming and personal?

Should I just get a 4080 or 3080?

3080

3080 is pointless since 4070 has same performance with newer features and half the power draw.
So it basically comes between 4070 and 4080 with 4080 being more then twice the price.
If you use 1440p then 4070 Ti would be ok too but for 4K you should really look for 4080 or 4090.

I would get the 4080 just for better dlss and frame generation. In fact, i upgraded from a 3090 to 4080.

If you don`t care about ray tracing then RX 7900 XT and RX 7900 XTX are great options for 1440p too.

I just don't want to upgrade in the future.

There is really nothing newer coming currently besides the Super versions of 4000 series but those are not exactly breakthroughs and are at best minor upgrades and at worst actually veiled downgrades.
There is zero reason to buy an RTX 3080 when the RTX 4070 exists. The only GPU in the RTX 30 series you should still consider as existing on the new market is the RTX 3060 12 GB. The rest have no purpose anymore as there's better alternatives unless you find them well below usual pricing (which applies to anything).

I've got a 3080 and it's fine. I wouldn't recommend buying one now though, for exact same reason others have said, the 4070 exists.
Which GPU you should get, It depends on your budget. RTX 4080 is almost 50% more powerful than 3080 and costs 50% more money.

$100 price difference between 3080 and 4070, with same performance.
4070Ti is 20-25% more powerful and costs 200-300$ more.

7900xt and 7900xtx will get you solid 4k gaming with FSR or RSR max settings no ray tracing. I use a 6900xt for that performance and the 7900xt is 15-25% better in performance.

the 4000 series cards are better cards.run much cooler more powerful and DLSS
is far superior it will add a couple years to your purchase.the 3080 is already
behind.games have already exceeded the 10gb vram
