Keyboard keeps disconnecting,pc freezes
Hello,

Lately I've been having weird problems with my pc and I'm not sure what causes them. My keyboard randomly disconnects from my pc for about 5 seconds and at the same time the screen freezes for about 1 second. This happens a lot and I'm having trouble writing this right now :D. I've tried plugging the keyboard in different usbs and I keep having the same problem. I tried the keyboard with another pc without any problems, so it can't be the keyboard. I played out with the power settings without a result.

Does anyone know what causes this problem and how could I fix it?

Thanks in advance,
Methallica

What type of keyboard is it? Wired to USB right?

Control Panel > Device Manager

First click on the top-menu: View > Show hidden devices, then look under the list for "Keyboards". You might have multiple "ghost" drivers there.

Unplug your keyboard, then use the mouse to uninstall all of the drivers.

Replugin the keyboard using USB port from the back (not USB hub, etc), Windows will detect and install a new driver for it. See if that helps?

Post your system specs. In particular, the make and model of keyboard.

A wired USB keyboard yes. I think your method might have worked, but it could be a coincidence, because sometimes my keyboard doesn't disconnect. Need to give it more time.

Thank you for your help! :)

Still no luck?

Windows > Search/Run > Type "Event Viewer" (without quotes)

Go under Event Viewer (Local) > Custom Views > Administrative Events

There will be a lot of system logs, with a level (mostly warnings). Look for any red error message upon last booting up or when the issue occurs. Click them and read the "General" tab below for possible reasons. This will hopefully lead you to a root cause.

There's an error about what seems to be an USB driver.

Log Name: System
Source: WudfUsbccidDriver
Date: 26.03.2016 15:43:18
Event ID: 6
Task Category: Driver
Level: Error
Keywords:
User: LOCAL SERVICE
Computer: Oskar-PC
Description:
Invalid data.
Name: VendorIoctl
Value: 0x313520

That's a "fingerprint reader" driver. It's complaining that it's receiving invalid data. Your keyboard doesn't have a fingerprint scanner (normally use for auto-logins) or volume control, etc (which might be mistaken by Windows as a biometric input device)?

Are you on Win 7 or Win 10?

If it's Win 7, there's a hot fix for that issue:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2519922

If not and actually on Win 10...

Go under Control Panel > Troubleshooting > Hardware and Sound > Configure a device. Then select "Find and fix problems with a device".

Thank you a lot, I uninstalled all the drivers and then plugged it back, after like 5 seconds it worked again
Thanks!
