Some games have Audio Presets in them (like the Battlefield series of games) for example which depending on which one u select, might change the overall amount of reverb, volume, surround speaker correction/placement; etc.
Ensure that in Windows > right click Speaker icon in notification area > click Playback Devices > then click the Communications tab @ top there. Put this option on "Do Nothing" and click OK.
Overall, check Playback Devices > your Speaker or Headset device > Properties and double check all those settings.
Also ensure at the least, Windows Desktop / Sound Mixer is set to 100% as you can always change the master volume either from the Headset, or within a game itself.
It happens for everything, even youtube. I'll give those suggestions a try, thanks. What's even more weird is even if I crank up the volume, it doesn't help. I can set volume to 1% and it still detects, it's just certain wavelengths or something I guess, like whispering. I was watching Tremors, and during some of the whispering only about 1/2 of it actually picked up. Same goes for background music in some cases.
Also, are you plugging the headset into analog headphone/mic jacks? Or are you using the supplied adapter? The adapter should provide extra amp boost to help with this. If you just plugging the analog jack in; you are relying on your sound/onboard-audio, which won't be as good, since most of them lack a headphone/mic amp.
