Crazy Gsync flickering
I noticed crazy Flickering while I use Gsync in some games.
For Example in the crew motorfest, if I start this game and it loads, the whole loading screen flickering like crazy. If I am in the game, it still flicker a few second and then it is away. Is my asus Monitor damaged?

Do you have ULMB enabled? That can sometimes cause a perceivable flicker as it strobes the backlight.
What is this?

Ultra Low Motion Blur (ULMB) is NVIDIAs blur reduction tech, however, I didn't see that you replied with your monitor model. The monitor you have isn't a Gsync display and is Freesync premium / Gsync compatible so it doesn't have NVIDIA's display driver. It does still have a similar feature that ASUS brands Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB). Look for this in the display's on-screen display menus and try disabling it to see if that looks better for you.

Things will have more "LCD blur" with things in motion but it shouldn't be flickering. The blur reduction systems work by strobing (turning it on and off) the backlight for the display so that it is on when there is a frame scanned to all lines of the display, and off when a new scan is starting. This results in the backlight being off during the time when a pixel is lit and when it is turning off and changing color. The strobing can be perceivable as flicker because it is flickering the backlight on and off as the panel is refreshed.

It's not normal at all.

BUT, I think it depends on the age of the gear.

I remember when Gsync first came out I had multiple problems with games. Each generation of video card and monitor and the problems have decreased. Now, it all works perfectly. Even if you mismatch Freesync and Gsync it usually works perfectly (although its wise to ask other users before you buy).

At the moment I have a Freesync monitor and a Gsync monitor and they both work without any faults, with a Gsync card.

mb I buy this, what do you think?

I have the 32" version of this as my main monitor and love it. Been running it for a few years now and had no problems at all with it.

I would try a decent cable with your current monitor before buying a new one though. You never know it could be something really as simple as the cable causing you problems and it could possibly save you some pennies.

It is 100% a issue with the Crew Motorfest. I use this Monitor since 4 years and never had issues like this, it is only in The Crew Motorfest. I tested 12 games, no single flickering. I hope Ubisoft or Nvidia will fix this, cause it makes headaches. Thanks for your tips, guys.

btw. found a fix on the crew motorfest. If I start this game, I have to press back to windows button then back to the game, the flickering is gone.

I never heard from this option, I have a ELMB and I never saw this feature, but it is always greyed out. I can't enable it, why?

If it’s greyed out then it is not supported with your current configuration. Again your display is “gSync compatible”, it is not an actual gSync display so it isn’t going to have ULMB because that is a feature of the actual gSync display driver/hardware which is only compatible with NVIDIA GPUs and actual gSync displays.

ELMB is what ASUS brands the Freesync /VESA VRR similar backlight strobing system for reducing motion blur on LCD displays. The reason it is greyed out as an option is likely because you don’t have VSYNC enabled in-driver and running at 60Hz which iirc was a limitation of how freesync implements that strobing; however I’m not positive. It may also be because that particular feature is only compatible with specifically Freesync cards.

G-SYNC Compatible plus OpenGL/Vulkan DXGI Present on my computer causes horrendous flickering in some games and in FreeCAD and UltiMaker Cura.

Are you remembering to turn vsync off in game and turn it on in Nvidia control panel? You also have to cap your fps to something like 117 (for 120hz) 140 (for 144hz) etc.
This is just not true. I own a 1080p/144Hz GSYNC monitor and I run games all the time with Vsync on in-game + Gsync on in the nvidia control panel right up to 144 FPS. It's 100% perfectly fine in all games. Gsync works. Everything works and is perfectly smooth with zero issues. Also to OP: This is most likely caused by the cable to your monitor. Consider trying a new cable before you try a new monitor. Cables are very cheap. Monitors are not.

Lol what?! You are spouting false info pal. Your running double gsync and thus have a lag penalty of 8ms lol.

Hes right, You only run vsync in the nvidia panel and you must cap 3 below refresh. Otherwise you end up with a lag penatly. Learn how to gsync.

Live with it, 400$ isnt enough wait and get a dedicated gsync module display if you hate it that much.

Actually no. I play many games exactly like this and I have for several years. All games that can maintain 144 FPS are very much perfectly smooth, fluid, and responsive feeling just like I said. There is no "lag penalty" as you say. I even watch frametimes and many games I play are < 20ms when playing. Everything is perfectly fine with zero issues at all.

I'm starting to think that you probably do not own a higher refresh rate GSYNC screen so that's why you write your comments. If you do not own the hardware to experience it yourself then you should not be commenting about this configuration.

Lol what nonsense copium. Theres a indepth article on this by blurbusters and nvidia. Your running double vsync like a fool for no reason. Ps i own more monitors than you ever will and know how gsync works and you dont understand how it works.

See part ingame settings. You never ever use u game vsync as they can cause extra frame delays and even triple buffering. Gsync with a fps cap 3 below the refresh rate maintains no tearing and at most one frame delay. Using ingame vsync you add an entire extra frame delay (now two) and god forbid 3 with triple buffering. So you added 8ms almost for no reason now you got 16ms delay the same as 60fps lmao because you ran i game vsync. Had you did it like blurbusters state you would of had just under 8ms lol...

I think thats normal. Or at least i had it on 3 different monitors. I simply stopped using gsync because of it (and also the fact that it adds ~3 second delay to alt tabbing). Honestly i never saw the benefits of gsync. Maybe because i dont play competitive shooters. I am perfectly happy with vsync. Some people say it increases latency (or something) but at >120hz i dont think its a problem.

Not normal, used gsync for a long time and it's great, It doesn't matter these days if is gsync or freesync or gsync certified freesync. Nvidia or AMD both work with each other.
There is something wrong with the OP monitor..

When you get older in a few years you might learn to get lazy like me. I'm not going in to the nvidia profiles and create a custom profile to limit the FPS in every single game I play. No one is going to do that crap. We can just go in a game, switch on vsync, leave gsync enabled, play games, enjoy smooth and fluid gameplay, low frame times, and everything is amazing, beautiful, and awesome. No tinkering or modifications necessary. It's very easy.

I will repeat one more time: Do you actually own a 144 hz (or faster) Gsync monitor (And not a freesync monitor that is 'gsync compatible', an actual gsync monitor) and also an Nvidia video card capable of pushing games at 144+ FPS constantly? Have you actually experienced it yourself in person with your eyes? Some random testing by some random website in a controlled test environment doesn't mean anything about actual gameplay in real games.

You have to see it yourself with your own eyes. If you have not seen it in person then you shouldn't be commenting on it.

I actually go the other way and leave V-Sync to 3D applications and G-Sync enabled in Nvidia control panel plus a couple other things like setting Quality to High Quality. Then in games I'll turn off V-Sync and set to unlimited FPS if there is an option. Then everything runs buttery smooth for me with no problems at all.
GMC79 2023 年 10 月 28 日 下午 6:12
Yes If you have Gysnc, vsync needs to be off in game. and is best to set fps limit in control panel to 1 below refresh rate,143 for me on 144hz LG.
