Thanks for the suggestion, but I use Linux mint and I don't game on it. Will probably contact steam support and send them the dump files and other stuff, maybe they know what is up. Until then I will run other launchers.
Use Win10 or 11 and ensure that the installer for those are 22H2; nothing older.
If unsure of this, wipe the USB Flash Drive clean and remake the OS install media using the Media Creation Tool from the Win10 or 11 official website; which OS media it makes is determined by the tool from each website.
Once the OS is installed, the user must go into settings and enable NET/ASP Frameworks
WINKEY + E > look for Control Panel > Right click this > Open in New Window
Go to Programs and Features > Turn Windows Features On/Off
Enable the following:
> NET Framework 3.x
> NET Framework 4.x
> Legacy Components > DirectPlay
Click OK > Get via Windows Updates
When it's finished, it should prompt you to Restart.
Once restarted, download & install Visual C++ Runtimes all-in-one
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one
Once finished, download & install DirectX Runtimes Redist June 2010
https://www.techpowerup.com/download/directx-redistributable-runtime
^ When run it will ask where to extract; input
c:\DX
When it is complete go to C Drive > DX from File Explorer and right click DXSETUP.EXE > Run as Admin
Reboot when the installer is finished.
Download and install latest Drivers from here:
INTEL > https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/detect.html
NVIDIA > https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/212898
Install all the Intel Drivers first. Reboot and then install the NVIDIA. Reboot again when this is done.
Then right click the Desktop background area and click NVIDIA Control Panel > Go to Manage 3D Settings > Set "High Performance GPU" as the Global Default and Apply.
Printed this out and put in my folder of things it might come handy again some day.
The issues appeared back after a few days. Wiped my windows again and made a fresh install with all of the said components that ( bad Motha) wrote, all windows updates applied, GPU/CPU drivers all updated.
Every game I launch trough steam will BSOD my system within minutes with the dxgkrnl fatal crash.
All other game launchers work without any issues, I can play there hours without issues. Completely lost here what to do or how should I proceed.
I can't use steam at ALL for some reason anymore and I don't know the reason for it. It just doesn't run or work
Are you making changes to the Steam Settings after getting the Client up and running. If so what Settings are you changing?
Also have you set the Power Profile to Intel High/Ultra Performance as well after the drivers are install and system rebooted?
What about Nvidia Control Panel Settings changes?
I haven't made no change to steam settings after installing it.
Also my power profile is set to maximum performance and I have not made any other changes to. The system at all.
I just installed pop_os! To my laptop now and the same thing is happening with steam it bricks my laptop and I need to force a restart. I can use rockstar, epic, gog launches without a issue and can game without any issues whatsoever even on Linux and Windows os.
I don't understand what has happened since I used to play daily on this pc and steam was the main launcher until two weeks something changed and this issue started.
I have even pulled my laptop apart, cleaned all the fans, repasted my GPU and CPU had used diffrent SSD and ram sticks to see if it makes any difference..... Nothing has worked the laptop just completely dies and switches off when using steam and any game.
Small update, it I installed steam and Linux on my pc, there seems to be a issue playing games that uses unreal engine for the games, I tried diffrent games under Linux and windows and they work under steam and the system doesn't switch off, but if I launch dead by daylight or Texas Chain Saw Massacre that use UE the pc shuts off ( windows with the error dxgkrnl fatal and Linux just hungs)
Still don't understand why is this sort of things happening. When other games work....
I read quite a few reddits that spoke about this crashing Steam and also various Games.
