Problem uninstalling Steam on Debian 12 (bookworm)
Hello, today I installed Steam on this wonderful OS, however I didnt like it too much due to the usage of Proton to run windows games, so I tought to best have a Windows partition for games, and Debian for work/school, so i tried to uninstall it using whatever and classical methods of purge and remove, but when i execute either command on terminal i just get the next message:

The package <<steam:i386>> isn't installed, it won't be deleted

I can still open the app so it's still here, also tried to uninstall it using the software center, but it doesn't even show on it.

Im open to remove it manually but I don't know which files where modified with steam instances, and if there are other steam related stuff over system files. So if you know how to solve this please share it, I would be most grateful.

You tried purge? Did you install the 32-bit steam libs?

Going by this:
https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/steam-installer

The following should remove all, including i386 if installed:

apt-get purge steam steam:i386 steam-installer steam-installer:i386 steam-libs steam-libs-i386:i386

Any luck?

Check what was actually installed, and remove it - it looks like it would install an installer that actually does the install

Maybe you installed it as a flatpak instead?

flatpak list

The Debian package is named steam-installer

Yes thank you, did something similar, i found wich packages were steam related with whereis and removed them with purge and auto remove each one of them, then i just had to find the remaining files and folders and that was it, i know there are still some libraries that steam-latest.deb downloaded during installation, but those dont bother me, anyways thank you agian.

On Linux never download packages from the web, always get them from the repos.

That's about the only way Linux users usually get viruses or malware.

Thanks for warning, fortunately I always download from the legitimate sites, since Debian is primarily for work/studies, but I am getting real tired of Windows, so installing Steam on Linux was like a test to if I should do a Full OS Switch, but in the end I think I will change Debian to be main OS and Windows for games, even so Minecraft runs better than ever on Debian.
Anyway thanks for ur answers and tips, they are very much appreciated <3

People still run the Java based MineCraft?
Didn't that stop getting updates years ago?
