You don't meet the minimum system requirements. You likely are now getting errors after their recent update to UE5
You'd need to upgrade your motherboard in order to upgrade to a CPU that meets the minimum requirements.
It's time to build a new one.
You probably just need a BIOS update since the 1090T is on the supported list for both revisions 1.0 and 1.1 of that board.
I'm not sure what difference it'll make since I'm not sure how many of these old CPUs would seriously challenge a 3rd gen Intel CPU - even an i3 - when the later Bulldozer-based CPUs couldn't even manage that.
Plus side, systems that should fall somewhere in the middle of those requirements are more or less ewaste at this point, so finding one for a reasonable price (or even free!) shouldn't be too much of a hassle.
Yeah, I didn't bother mentioning they could do a firmware update for their board to use the Phenom II x6 1090t as that still would not accomplish what their stated goal was in the OP. It really is just a case of having a very old PC not being able to play modern games. And unfortunately for the OP, the modern game they are trying to play is a "Games as a Service" type of game and the user agreement permits the changing of minimum system requirements over time as the service is updated.
I also took the way they phrased it that they purchased the Phenom II x6 1090t, couldn't get it to work, and then returned it thinking it wasn't compatible. If the OP didn't do that and they are "stuck" with the Phenom II x6 1090t, then they should absolutely go to Gigabyte's support page for their motherboard and download the latest firmware update so they can use the better CPU; regardless if it solves their Fortnite issue.
GA-MA785GPMT-UD2H Support - BIOS Updates[www.gigabyte.com]
While it likely would be fine, they never finalized the F8 bios for that generation of boards. OP should be fine using either F7 or the F8B (beta) firmwares to have support for the Phenom II x6 1090t.
Also, concur that you can get a much more recent low-end gaming PC that would meet the system requirements that is still a few generations old from the current tech for under $300. You can also find some decent refurbished options on ebay with a Ryzen 5 5600G + RX5500 for about $400-$450. While that still isn't going to work for more modern titles due to the 4GB of VRAM, it would be substantially better than their current rig and would (at least for now) support playing Fortnite.
FX 6300 / 8350
or 1st Gen Ryzen
Will be quite bad and simply not worth it.
I've used all of the various Phenom II X4 and X6; they are junk; and that was back in 2010-2013 or so. Just moving to an FX8350 blows everything Phenom II out the water quite easily. Phenom II and older also do not have proper CPU instruction sets needed for many games; as least AMD FX has those.
